If you've had no problem shooting a slide with a spinner and it works for you would just keep doing it, tying to back just gets you better arrow flight and if you keep your line tight you can't draw the bow all way back unless the button on the reel is pushed

 

Tying to the back you will probably loose your eye. but everyone has different opinions i tie to the back that is the only way to tie off to a spinner. This subject gets beat up so much use the search bar upper right corner you can read on it for a week.

haha, gotcha, I didnt know if their was any facts pointing one way or another. I plan on using my slide and pushing my button!

 

I'm being sarcastic I only shoot spinners and tie to the back. The only time I use a slide is with a retriver and that is when I go to Texas and last week I was in Texas and I shot my spinner because I absolutely hate retrivers and slides.

 

Do what you want and let know one change your mind. If you shoot with slides and kill fish, shoot slides, but if you want to ttb then by all means try it and see which you like better and YOU make the decision not someone else. Everyone has a different opinion. Personally, I like to ttb but I have shot slides before and i shot fish but i ttb one time and then discovered I liked it.

 

If your going to use a spinner tie to the back muzzy recommends it because if you forget to push the button it will pop the arrow of your string. Plus keep your drag lite if for some reason it gets a mystery knot or wraps on your rest you are less likely to loose your arrow.

 

Better arrow flight, less drag, easier to switch arrows are the reasons I tie to the back. The only reason I would use a slide with a retriever would be if I was drawing my bow and letting it down often like you would while chasing bigheads. Being bigheads are 12 hours from me I'll stick with ttb

 

hear comments about mystery knots and hanging on the string or slide or arrow rest has this ever happened to anyone that you know of. I do know when the arrow is released the string has to go by several objects because the arrow flys past the string??? so line twists could be scary.

 

I have the line wrap on the rest atleast one time every trip. Does it bother me yes because I lost my chance at a fish.

I've shot fish with the line wrapped up. Usually if anything it loops on the lock nut of my CNC rest for some reason... Never lost an arrow because of it though. I'm at kind of a disadvantage... 31" draw length makes for a big loop of line on the shot. I don't shoot slides anymore, unless as mentioned above i am spotlighting bigheads/silvers. I love the improved arrow flight and the decreased resistance in the water.

 

Yep, I have it wrap around my qd rest once or twice a night, some times I still get the fish. And I guarantee I can change out an arrow if I shoot through a fish or wanna change arrows and shoot a fish or two before a guy with a slide can change arrows

 

Yes it slows it down a lot keep your drag loose and you will have less chance loosing your arrow.

 

I TTB and occasionally get a loop on the rest. But nothing serious enough to worry about it. Those of you who say TTB only if you shoot a spinner so the arrow will pop of if you don't hit the button are correct in a sense. However, my wife has been shooting a slide with a spinner for years now and had no issues. She prefers the slides. The key is to use a rod and the arrow still pops off if the button isn't pressed. When the tip of the arrow draws past the rod tip it will pop off if the button isn't pressed.

 

If you snap shoot or have a short draw still not a guarantee it will pop ofd the string.

 

I still have never seen a confirmed eye loss due to snap back

 

Are you talking just for spinners or including bottles?
