Sure, but it's going to depend on your water conditions..from wind rippling the surface to particles in the water column. I used an aluminum johnboat for years, and still will to get through the shallows. Tippy as hell when you stand up in them though, especially if you're buzzing. I use starfire II lights and spotlights(1mill) on a deepcycle..ppl get pissed off by muffler noise at some of the places I fish, plus it's nice to hear natural ambience on the stalk

All we use is a spotlight.. depends on the type of fishing you'll do.. but we do mainly bigheads so it's great.. and I like not having all the noise that goes with the genny.. but to each is own!!

This is what I used to use (still keep it on the boat) blue light cuts threw the water awesome!!!! At 400,000 it wast much longer then the bigger 3 mil. candle power lights! I made a mount to put it on the bow much like the post above but most of the time we would have one guy shoot one spot and switch back and forth! Get them at Cabela's for $39.00

When i started out i just went and bought a 55wat driving light from walmart and mounted it in the stabilizer hole, i'll see if i can't find a pic of it...

do you think a light like this would be alrite for a reel seat because i have a muzzy reel that is mounted on the stabalizer with a reel seat, would it interfere with the line and if it would is there any other way to mount a light on the bow... id appreciate any help and thats a nice little light by the way
