I can't remember the brand I use off the top of my head, but I wax mine a couple of times a month.

 

I think mines string snot. And depends on how much I shoot

I used to wax the strings on my recurve bows after every shooting session. I would wipe the bow down, wax the string and then take the bow down for storage. Now I try to remember to wax the string every third or fourth time out.

I don't think brand is too important. When I got my little sister a bow I gave her some wax and told her she isn't allowed to shoot it without waxing it too. It would be a good habit for everyone to get in to

 

Should you also wax the cables? I know on my pse the cables are rapped in somthing but on my diamond they aren't.

 

Only wax string fibers, dont wax served areas. You really dont need to wax it much. Every time you shoot is too much waxing. You are just adding weight to your string and a sticky surface for dust and dirt to adhere to. All you want is a light coat now and then when your string gets slightly fuzzy, and you want to melt it into the string fibers so that it repels water.

 

Okay I didn't know you had to melt the wax into the string

 

Only with your fingers..... just use friction and rub the wax into the fibers. the wax will start to melt into the string. NEVER expose your string to a heat source to melt the wax, you will ruin them

Bohning tex-tite comes in the red tube.. Works the best for me, I hated the omp crap. I wax it every 3-4 trips.

 

scorpion venom string wax, rub it on let sit for 15 minutes to dry, then take a smooth piece of leather and run it up and down the string to create heat to get it into the string and coat better

 

Sorry, i had assumed you had used bow wax before :cf: Just friction from like a piece of leather to heat it up. Dont try any other heat source. Waxing the string wont be needed anymore if you get an open flame touching it lol

 

Some times I don't think before I do things lol no I haven't had much experience with waxing a bow string, I woulda gone to my step dad for help with it but he still thinks I'm gonna ruin the bow I wanna use for bowfishing lol I did rub it in with my fingers before any one said anything about melting the wax. It all good now. Just gotta find time to get out now and shoot some carp outta the canoe
