Fixing the Handle and grinding the brake are the Best Mods IMHO for this spinner... I would like to add taking the bait clicker and anti Reverse out just to limit crap getting hung up or breaking off inside the reel.

also the holes in the cap line up perfect on the spool so you can cut them out so you can spray your line down without having to pull the cap...

And you didn't fix the foot?? :ct:
Don't buy the chaep azz $11 20's and you won't have the foot problems. I don't remember seeing the foot break on a 4003SA or TI20 for as long as we've used them. The 4003SA on my bow right now is over 6 years old.
Left---4003SA/TI20--------Middle----new Synergy 20---------Right---old 20
Best foot----------------------------OK foot---------------------------Lousy foot

I don't think I've ever had a button break. The TI20 uses the same button.

Here are the pictures of mine with the wrong button on the bottom. Mine has a bigger funky looking hole.
I don't think that's a 4003SA reel because the button shown is correct for a TI20 or 4003SA.

Whats the difference in them other than the buttons?
A whole bunch of stuff. The gears for one.I've not shot the ones like you got yet but they look like they are made really tough. The old 4003sa is identical to the TI20.I think they may even be the same with a different name but not sure. You might call Shakespeare and see if they still sell parts for it.I know they do for TI's.I had an old Shakespeare Tiger reel laying around and robbed a button off of it to put on a reel like you got so those I know will interchange.

Thanks for the bad news!! Here is a side view of them. They don't look anything like the 4003SA's to me. Shakespeare did say they would give me 45% off my new reels since these were non repairable. Time to upgrade!! Any body wonna buy some vintage reels?

I remember those and they are completely different. No joke---I would break the button off every one of those I had and take 45% off of some new TI20's.

I think i might just do that. At least they are some what standing behind them with the discount. Are the Ti's that much better of a reel? I wander if the cap sizes are the same since these have the larger holes already in them?

The TI20's are better. The caps have a 5/8" hole already and enlarging it don't acomplish anything but does cause line pick-up issues. Do the pick-up pin cover mods and a Discovery @ 14 lbs will shoot all the line off the reel with ease.
