stumbled across this and was wondering, if i wanted to build an aluminum deck but i dont know how to weld aluminum. Could I fab up my deck and "tack" it together with this and then take the whole deck to someone and let them weld it all properly for me? i thought it was some pretty cool stuff but you guys that know about welding may know something about it that i dont...

I think its possible. See if you can find a welder who will work with you. I've contacted some smaller guys who are willing to let you to set everything up at there shop and help them while they weld. Its a lot faster and cuts down on the time it takes them to do it. I would however just run this past which ever welder you chose to use as they may say it won't allow them to complete a strong weld or it may be just fine. Either way its pretty neat. Never sent this stuff before.

Until you try to use it... Like any good infomercial they make it look easy, I can solder and braze copper and silver solder steel and stainless steel, but the heat control on aluminum is so small from getting hot enough( the video said 730 degrees) to being to hot and crumbling away and melting. Aluminum doesn't show color change like copper or steel, am sure most real welders would want the joints good and clean without any of that on the aluminum, wouldn't trust it as structural to join a deck together or anything like that.

Bill Nigh has a new show out??? i wouldnt build anything with that!!!! it looks cool yes but anything of importance i wouldnt... that would make a mess for a welder to try and grind out each time he goes to stack some dimes ....
