I am trying to figure out the math for my new setup and I have run into a conundrum. I have searched many forums on converters, ohms tables, and anything to do with amps to volts with no luck. So here it goes: I want to make the switch from hps to led lights this year. I have a troller rig and I have no desire to run silent. The noise is what endeared me to Bowfishing... I run an 80 lb thrust minn kota which is said to draw a maximum of 56 amps and I want to run 6 - 100 watt LED flood lights. I converted the wattage of the LED's to 25 amps on a 24 volt system. I want to run both my lights and troller off the same two batteries. My plan is to run a powermax 55 amp converter to both of these batteries (2 different converters). So by my basic math if I can put 110 amps into batteries that are drawing 81 amps (troller and LED draw) I should be able to run until I'm out of fuel in the generator. My issue is when I convert it back over to watts it doesn't make sense. The converters are said to draw a max of 750 watts a piece so on my 2000 watt Honda genny I should be good, but when I convert the 81 amps on the 24 volt system to watts I come up with 1944 watts which I could not continuously run on that generator. I suspect my miscalculation is due to the fact I am doing math based off a 24 volt system but using the converters individually on a 12-volt system, but I'm kinda stumped as to what is the actual draw. Please advise me in two areas. 1. Why my math seems to be so different with the different measurements of electricity.
2. If my 81 total amps is correct, is that an excessive load to place on two high quality batteries on a 24-volt system? Or where to search for specs on my batteries?
Simplified:
80 lbs thrust troller - maximum draw of 56 amps (run off batteries)
6 100 watt LED lights - calculated draw of 25 amps (run off batteries)
2 powermax converters - 55 amps a piece (connected to generator)
