Actually I just cleaned out my freezer.
All four of these are from this year and all are state records in Illinois.
The state biologist asked me to hang on to them for a while.
I feel fortunate to have had a great year in spite of the rain.

Wow! that's a HUGE bowfin! How big was it if you don't mind?

black buff 42lb 8oz
grassy 53lb 13oz
common 38lb 2oz
bowfin 12lb 3oz

the grassy was actually shop by my wife and the arrow pulled out a few minutes later we chased it down again and i shot it.
to save the marriage i had to give it to her.

I thought about it.
I do my own taxidermy and big fish are alot of work.I did a 54 lb grassy last year.
To do carp right they realy should have a cast head made. Like i said its alot of work.
I figure i will hang a good picture of each fish under the certificate.
It did feel kind of bad dumping them in my fish pile.
They where still alittle frozen so the buzzards got a treat on a hot day.
