This last season was rough on the equipment and I have a lot of work to do before the 2016 season. It seems that my typical year consists of breaking stuff all spring, summer, and fall and then fixing it all over the winter! Since it has been so quite around here lately I was wondering what all repairs and modifications that everyone on here plans to do to their rig over the winter. Hopefully some of your list will either remind me of some things or give me some new ideas on how to improve my rig.
Mine include:
Trailer
*New trailer brake and running lights (LED) most likely completely rewiring the trailer.
*submersible LED reverse lights (so that I can see to back in dark ramps and my carport. I cant decided if these should go on the boat or trailer)
*New trailer bunker boards and carpet (may consider a poly type material for these or at least poly over wood rather than carpet)
*new trailer spare tire
*trailer spare tire mount
*grease trailer wheel bearings
Boat
*install 4 new 250watt ballasts
*clean up light wiring
*install rubber grommets through deck to prevent light wire cutting
*install bilge pump (I have ran for 3 years without one......
*change main engine gear oil
*change kicker motor gear oil
*change kicker motor engine oil
*change main engine water pump
*get an extra spark plug or 2 for each engine and put in boat storage
*change both generator oils
*heat resistant silicon on socket/bulb base to prevent bulbs from rattling and unscrewing
*weld front hook crack on the boat
*install kicker steering shaft grease seal
*replace broken kicker steering arm bolt
*convert tiller kicker motor shifting from my ghetto pull/pull system to an actual push pull cable
If I get super motivated I want to convert my single axle trailer to a double axle. My trailer is very light duty built and I have blew out 3 new tires in the last 2 years. I think that the extra axle would help...I guess I might be better off buying a new trailer than doing my list above and also adding an axle.
I am sure that I wont get a lot of this done but I have found that making a list rather than keeping it all in my head helps me out. Working out in the "blue sky garage" with 2 feet of snow on the ground sure doesnt help the boat projects.
