Have any of you experimentors out there ever put trim tabs on a tunnel hull. I know they arent built for speed, but a guy can try...right...Just thinking I could possibly get a little less water contact since I dont have the benifit of a v design.

I built trim tabs on the bottom of my float pods for my 2080 mod-v tunnel hull and they work great, leveled the boat our better and made it pop out of the tunnel alot better when I plane off. Took some trial and error but finally got the height correct. I just welded the tab on the seam at the front of the pod/stern and welded a 1/2 thick aluminum bar across the back of the tab and drilled and threaded it so I could use spacers to adjust the rear height of the tab until I got it right, then bolted it down. My tabs are 12x18in.
Actually when I adjusted them enough to pop the boat out of the tunnel, I did loose about 3-4mph on top end, but the boat rides much better and plains out easier as well. If the tunnel is sucking the boat down I will loose alot of top end, but now I can trim the motor way up, much further then I ever could before and porpoising is a non-issue and throws a neat rooster out the back now.
Nope no pics but will try to remember to get some and post them up.
Getting ready to redo the bottom plate on my pods and I am going to leave them a little long so that I can tweak them like a trim tab. If it doesn't work right I can redo or cut it off. Trying to cut down on a little porpoising issue.
