The only problem that I would see with that is when you need to pull the troller up in a hurry to keep from breakin it off on a rock. I guess it depends on the type of water you fish.

 

Hmm, true. Although if you're close enough to a rock to break it off, you would still be pulling it straight up to get it out of the way fast enough, just might be a PITA this way. Its a 1860 mod v, so Im trying to keep as much real estate as possible on deck. What i need is a troller with a rock auto sensor that lifts itself out of the water for you haha.

 

I replaced the big gofy mount on my 101 with the metal one so I didnt have that big thing stretched across the middle of my deck

I have had mine mounted like that for 10 years or so. I have bent the shaft a few times when the foot hung under a log but if you don't have a lot of logs you will be fine.

I am going to 100w LEDs so I may go back to a flush deck.

Very cool guys! Thanks for the pics! Got a cool idea for mine with a gas shock for the trap door. Will be a bit before I get it done, but will post pics.

 

under the deck I don't mind it at all. I can't remember what shaft length is on mine but it's tall enough that if I need to pull it in a hurry the trolled head isn't too far below the rail on my platform. It's a slight bend to grab but not bad.

 

Cool! How far back from the tip of bow is front of your deck? Hard to see from this angle.

 

Port side of deck flips up to drop trolling motor. I fixed my trolling motor so that it does not lock when it's down. I just tie a rope around it when fishing so that when it gets too shallow or rocky, I just pull it up out of the way with the rope.

 

Yes I do, here is a thread with pics of my boat and hinged door. The deck is removable and the troller is right where Tracker put it OEM.

For what it is worth if I could move the troller to the middle and set it up the trap door to be centered I would. If I ever get a new troller and redesign my deck I will make that change to the boat. Sometimes the troller off to the side is a PITA and doesn't track straight, hits docks, etc.
