Those of you with Co pilot, how do you like them for bowfishing? Do you see advantages over a hand control? I like to use my big foot switch and coast up on them with the propeller off. Feel like that may be a bit more difficult with a Co pilot? Idk I'm open to anything just want opinions, probably getting rid of this dam minn kota that fried 2 armature in short time

it will work just like the big foot switch... just hit the button for the prop and it shuts down... I really dig having a hand remote vs anything else... still think the sexy stick is the easiest to run for someone that doesn't know what they are doing... but I hate shooting on the left side of the boat....lol

I installed and tested the CoPilot for the first time this weekend, fished Friday and Saturday nights, I will never go back to a foot pedal again.

I could take a beer break in the back of the boat and run the troller for my buddies if I wanted to.

I've got 2 remotes on my boat. I have one and someone else can have one so if I'm steering and shoot a fish the other person can take over steering and keep fishing. Just don't put them on a key lanyard and wear it around your neck. Can get tangled in your bow or fall off if you bend over too far.

This is one of the reasons I LOVE mine. on off faster slower left right all at the push of a button ... the head of the troller is down out of the way and everyone in the boat can have their own remote. Once you figure it out.. 2-3 trips with one.. its very easy to run. Plus there is a foot pedal back up.

Skippy doesn't even need a outboard on the back with that big troller.

55lb Minnkota Power Drive with newly installed CoPilot, I'll never use a foot pedal again.
LMAO .. it does haul the little boat around great. I bought it when I had the 1860.. but I would not go smaller on my 1448 now that I mounted it on there.. I would put a bigger one on there if the boat could handle more batteries!:laugh:

The basic answer is they all suck and they are engineered to fail. I would pay if someone would actually design and produce a quality built trolling motor. My garage looks like a trolling motor grave yard. Just got done with my yearly re-build, converted my 74lb maxxum to an 80lb maxxum, hope it will run out the rest of the season.

Minn Kota Traxxis 70 Transom Mount Trolling Motor(42" Shaft). Bow mounted it by flipping the head around. 1848 flush deck. Way more than enough power for lakes but there is one honey hole we have that it can't pull the boat fast enough to move forward in the water...

MK maxxum 70 on an 1860 Grizzly

I am pretty set on going to a Motorguide and Lowrance by the end of the year. I will stay 24V, I have not felt a need for the 36V but do want the hand control and the Lowrance network connection so I can use my phone or iPad as another screen.
