You ever shoot Perry Lake? I was there last night and the water clarity was as good as I have seen it there in a few years. Several feet of clean water. That place has lots of gar and buffs to shoot. 30 minutes west of Tuttle is Milford, and its about the cleanest water in the state, and the funnest place around to shoot.

Havnt made it to perry yet this year been talking bout . Didnt realize milford was so close to tuttle mite give it a try only have my troller goin is there a good place to start at milford where i wouldnt have to boat very far? Can you still get up in the delaware at perry sum big gar in there ?

I went to Perry last night. Water clarity was pretty good most places, there just wasn't many fish to shoot at unfortunately, compared to how it has been in the past this time of year. Lots of small buffs, and some decent longnose. Never saw a single common all night which was strange. The dam had about 8 feet of clarity, I had to pass up a chip shot on a 50+ lb. flathead since they're off limits on this lake. Really SUCKED watching him just laying there giving me the finger. Had 2 newbies in the boat so I let them do most of the missing, I mean shooting. I think we boated 15 fish. But 2 good shooters could've boated a lot of small buffs if they wanted to. My cousin missed a chip shot on a hog gar while I was changing my arrow out.

I went to Clinton saturday night. The clarity there was as good as Perry and the best I have ever seen Clinton, but very few fish to shoot at. I have shot these lakes a bunch in July and the fish just aren't where I normally find them. I guess I need to do some exploring.

I recommend if you can go to Perry during the day and go up in the river. The gar shooting is pretty rocking this time of year. Then hit the lake after dark. If the night shooting sucks, at least you arrowed some big gar during the day.

I went to Milford Sunday night and was VERY DISAPPOINTED! The lake is 10 feet above normal, which I knew going out there. But the clarity was terrible and the fish weren't in their normal places there either. I have been to Milford a dozen times in the past few years and the only other bad outing I had was when the lake was up 10 feet. I guess I will just wait till they let a bunch of water out before I go back, and that won't be anytime soon. They can't release any water until the MO river gets back down a ways, which is atleast a month away. Guess I will shoot Melvern next and see if my luck improves...

We hit perry sat nite filled a couple barrells of buffs gar commons and a big grassie we saw alot of fish including one huge flathead. We got pulled over by the lake patrol had to fix our running lights so we didnt get hit by another boat. We passed another bowfishing rig as we were trolling the dam and the game wardens had just told us they hardly ever see anybody bowfishing lol. Stuck some big gar right at daylight we had a good time hope to go back soon.

We found fish in the coves on the flats just bout everywhere we looked. Maybe its the 22 halos on our pontoon that attracts them or blinds them so they cant swim lol.
