I shoot a pse kingfisher and love shooting it, but im not getting enough penitration on the bigger fish. What do you guys suggest on a compound my recurve is 45# . I posted a thread yesterday and got some good info . I was looking at the new pse wave or the barracuda but they are 40# draw weight. A guy in the earlier thread said that the compound hits harder at the same weight. So is the 40# compound enough.
Thanks

They will all hit harder at a lower poundage than a recurve . AMS fish-hawk is a good cheap starter bow. Barracuda also but IMO the Osprey is the caddilac of bowfishing bows. So a search on them all & do a little reading then you can ask more specific questions about each one.

the baracuda is a beast at 40 pounds if you can find one. they dont make them any more. havent shot the wave but have only heard good things about it. you could als go with a micro midas 3 which is cheaper in price than both and change out the cams to make it a cuda.

Find you an older Onieda and have the limbs ground down to lower poundage.

Onieda, It's like a recurve on steroids.

I had a 45# kingfisher .... then a 60# Mathews ....just get a leverbow like i did yesterday and foget about it!

40 lbs is plenty on a fish hawk or cuda ... they hit max weight at 15 inches unlike a recurve... and hold it to 30 inches... also an oneida ... any oneida will out shoot a recurve at the same draw weight ... and they are the same style. so if your used to a recurve and want the power of a compound... go Oneida ... you can pick up a used one for $100-$300 depending on what you want!
