I just bought a 9.8 tahutsu on my cell phone while sitting at the bar.
After 3 years and 5 trolling motors I'm entering the wonderful world of kicker bowfishing.I hope I made the right decision. Wish me luck.

Here's what will happen.

After you fish with your kicker for a few months, you will dread getting on any boat with a troller. You will wonder how you ever managed to kill anything. It'll be like switching from a tricycle to a Ferrari. Like breaking up with Hilary Clinton, and then dating Jessica Alba. It'll feel like you just discovered baby oil for the first time.

Trust me, you made the best decision.

This is 100% the truth! I refuse to fish off of a troller now.

If you have any wrecking boat yards in your area look those over some junk motors have attachments that can be converted!!

Myself and buddy I shoot with are using Panther brackets but model #55-0410. Because it's of the way it works and torque applied while gunning the motor to the sides we went overkill with the neediest they make.

Every push pull cable I've seen is set up with a fixed jack plate, and the steering cable is welded to the boat... You would need to weld the steering to the jack plate so that it would tilt up and down? I would love to see some pictures. Thanks for answering my questions.
Trial and error gets very expensive with this stuff, so I'm just trying to only buy once while setting this thing up. Thanks again for the help.

I'll be running a bracket the steering cable goes thru ( a fabricated steering tube) that is bolted to the mounting plate on the bracket because my current kicker doesn't have a steering tube. In the front of the boat I have basically belcrank that keeps the steering cable on the port side of the boat. There is a pipe that runs Stright across to the middle of the boat thru two bearings jut behind the steer stick. an arm that connects to the Stick which when pushed or pulled moves the cable. By adjusting connection points I'm able to adjust the leverage and throw I want on the stick.. If that makes sense .

Sorry that is the only picture i have right now.

Can i get away with bolting or welding a jack plate on the far side? or is that going to push the boat to the right on me? how much of a difference will it make?

the further to the side the further it will push the boat off track but nothing you won't get used to. You will be feathering the steer stick back n forth typically so it'll always be small corrections with any set up much like driving a car.

As stated, yes you can tie straight into the stick but with every bend in the cable you will build resistance. When under power the resistance multiplies like Carpcommander said. My last boat was tied into the stick but It ended straight inline with a belcrank in the back which again limited the bends on the cable keeping it as smooth as possible.. I can not use a rear belcrank on my newest hull which is why i went with linkage in the front to Limit the bends.
