Well everyone keeps telling me how great the rage broadheads are and since I have been selling them and getting requests for more I figured what the heck maybe their is something to them. I have never been a fan of mechanical blades! I generally use Muzzy or Slick Tricks!
-First dear I used a rage on was a 1.5 year old doe and I must say The Rage made a massive hole and a heck of a blood trail! Shot was 33-34 yard away broad side double lung. She ran a 15 yard semi circle and fell over dead!

-Second deer with a rage was a 3.5-4.5 mature buck, shot was 16-18 yards, broad side, slight quartering away. The shot was text book perfect, sound of the crack, big mule kick, buck took off plowing threw the corn like a dozer! When I got down I was shocked to not see my arrow and only find sprits of blood high on the corn leaves. I backed out and went back to the far with my head hung low thinking I must have crewed something up!
Went back two hours latter, we had visible blood high on the right side of the corn (entry side) and was able to track with out to much trouble but it was not the massive paint spill I saw with the first deer! Deer went about 60-70 yards and plowed out. I walked over and looked at the entry it was huge but the exit was the size of my pinky!
After skinning the deer I found:
-the entry hole was only 2" threw the first layer of muscle, broadhead went in between two ribs, as it passed in between the ribs on of the blades snapped. making a hole into the chest cavity that my index finger barely fit in. It then passed threw both lungs and exited the left side leaving a hole the size of my pinky (size of the head without the blades open)
I am NOT Impressed, needless to say I WILL NOT be taking a chance on them again, and plan on sending my story and pictures onto rage to see what they have to say!
I admit the end result was successful, but not how I like to see it done!

i dont understand how you can shoot a deer through the heart with anything and have trouble finding it, i think you could shoot one with a practice tip in the heart and it wont go very far, just my 2 cents worth

I shoot slick tricks now because of the places I hunt ground blinds are a must... Tree farms with small trees and grass fields. I shot rage for years and always had great luck. Every head I have ever shot has failed me on bad shot placement, or should I say I failed them.

Well guys I shot some freezer meat today (2.5 year old doe), A lot of guys said give them another try maybe it was a fluke, It wasn't
The Shot:
slight quartering towards me, entry was in threw the meat on the back of the front leg (Meat no done) into the chest cavity and out 2/3 down 1/2 back on other side. Was a complete pass threw shot, perfect double lung! Deer went about 40 yards and dropped leaving a decent blood trail.
The BAD:
The entry hole threw the muscle was Huge! As happen with last deer as soon as the head entered the chest cavity it only made hole the size of my finger, same on exit! on the entry it did take a small chip out of the rib. This time when I pulled the arrow out of the ground the Broadhead looked perfect, NO bends or breaks but the blades were in an X shape!

I will have more picture proof tomorrow I will post up! Not sure what the problem is but their is one!!!

^^^ I see for 2012 Easton and Blood Runner have a joint arrow point combo coming out with Stainless inserts instead of alum. I think they are calling it "Deep Six" should be interesting!

Sounds like one of "those" movies with the bad actors and even worse plots... just sayin

Disclamer: do not google "deep 6" at work or in front of your family! again, just sayin

I've killed deer with just about every broadhead made. I've only lost two deer in my life and both were my fault. One was a bad shot, the other deflected off a branch. Just gotta find what works for you and what doesn't. And TTG, I'm not just a weekend warrior Im in the woods quite a bit and rage is what I shoot. I've shot muzzys for years and even still do from time to time. I'd say the 20+ pros that endorse them aren't weekend warriors either

That's because slingbows are gay!! They should rename them the Petter Puffers Wrist Rocket.. At the very least they should have a disclaimer stating "Sling bows may be hazardous to your sexuality".. However you like it and keep using it which makes me think you might not suck a rooster but you'd sure lay it in your mouth!! All I'm say'n BD is ya better get rid of that thing before your farts start smelling like semen!!

My dad and I both shoot rage 3 blades and have had great luck with them until last sunday. My dad shot a very large buck and hit him a lil far back. We did have a great blood trail for over 400 yds but lost it in picked beans.
Not sure that we can blame it on the broad head. The shot placement was not right, he just screwed up to put it honestly.
But up till then we have had good clean kills all with great blood trails.
As far as them being for weekend warriers that cant shoot. I shoot very good, but I have only ever shot expandables. When I got started bow hunting a buddy recomended NAP sidewinders and I killed a bunch of deer with them.
Then when rage came out a buddy of mine that shoots on White Tail Freaks was sponsered by them and ended up really liking them, he recomended em to me and I have used em ever since.
Mabe I am missing out not using a fixed blade broadhead, IDK, but I have only lost a very few deer after huntin them for alot of years. The ones that I lost was from bad shot placement, either the deer moving prior to impact or me just f-ing it up.
IMO somone that says that they have never made a bad shot on a deer has either not shot very many, is very very lucky or is a liar. Now before someone trys to eat me up on that statement, Im sure that several of you can shoot a bow better than me, but we are all shooting at a target that you have no guarentee will remain static prior to the arrow arrival. Chit does happen, but I always try to make good shots and not take chances with low percentage shots.

I re use mine all of the time,I just re sharpen them if they need it.About half of the time they don't.If they're still sharp to the touch then they get washed off with a dish rag and stuck back in the quiver. That's one of the main reasons why I buy good heads, so they can be used multiple times.Since my last post I had two shooter bucks in bow range. The first one hit my trail at 30 yards and backed out.The second one is a little smaller and I know he's a 5.5 year old because I have trail cam pics of him as a 3.5 year old.Anyhow he walked right underneath my feet after pawing out a scrape 40 yards up the trail before he got to me.I've watched bucks chase does, heard lots of grunting, watched them whip up on trees, make scrapes, you name it, nearly on a daily basis for the past couple of weeks. They're so rut crazed right now it ain't even funny.A lot of deer that I shoot come into my sets like they're on a string because I get right on top of their trails usually.I would say that at least half the deer that I whack get shot head on through the brisket or take one down between the shoulder blades.Mechanicals don't like that chit at all.I've ripped blades clean out of some of the best mechanicals made and they all suck when it comes to shooting the shot angles I like best which are chip shots.Ethics police get off on calling those shots risky.I get off on making them every single year all season long and watching them crash and burn shortly thereafter because I know there isn't a shot angle that I can't take that doesn't flat out eat their lunch.Every time I make one of those shots I say "**** Mark Drury!"

I'm not saying I recommend using dull blades, but I don't agree with a guy telling another guy he should have his license stripped for doing so. Seems kinda liberal to me. I replace mine every year, but call me superstitious I usually use the same broadhead/arrow for multiple deer unless it gets to a point where it's un usuable

LOL!!I have been called a lot of things but never a Lib!!!OUCH!Maybe the lisc. pull wasnt the answer but why would you not want to have EVERYTHING working for ya?You spend $700,on a bow,$300 more in gadgets to go on the bow,$15 for an arrow, and an astronomical price for a broadhead, why would you not replace the blades?I am all about re-using the Ferrul.Ethics Police I am not...etical sportsman,.....I strive to be
