Isn't it amazing how some people used to chisel their arrow points out of stone. just sayin.....

Been a lifetime Muzzy shooter, but was given 3 Rage a few years back, so I tried them. Shot this buck at 30 yards, double backside lung shot, and pass through. Problem: small holes, very little blood, and the deer went over a mile. Don't know what went wrong, but needless to say, I never put one back on an arrow. There is no replacement for a Muzzy.

G5 T3's baby... Built like a tank!! I'm by NO means an archery (hunting) guy.. But I got my fist hunting bow this year and killed a big doe with one and a terrible shot to boot.. But they did the job and did it very well!! I can defiantly see the preference for fixed blade but from my research and experience the T3's are the best mechanical out there.. The Rage from what I've heard is iffy when it comes to shoot thru mesh windows.. The T3's don't have a problem with them!! Again.. This is based on limited experience or first hand knowledge.. But rather a hell of a lot of research and comparing!! Check'em out and see what you all think!

Just killed an 8 point yesterday with a rage 2 blade went through both front shoulders and didnt even band the blade. Blood everywhere. He ran about 70 yards though. rage is all ill ever use. My brother in law uses the grim reaper. He likes those better than the rage

Rage had an issue when they first came out with the pin that held the blades on. This was a rolled-pin that had a tendency to get deformed after just a single shot, then it would get loose and fall out. I had this happen while shooting at a ground hog when I first got the heads. They have since fixed this (I believe) with a solid pin. I shoot a bear knock-off that I bought at Walmart 5 or 6 years ago. It is called the 'Buckmaster BTR', and I have no clue what speed I am shooting, but I have had two pass throughs on the two deer I shot with the Rages. I just wish changing the blades wasn't suck a pain and wasn't so expensive.

Still on my original 3 pack. Allot may frown, but I have 8 deer down with just 2 of the rage heads. The only reasons I even went to the second one was because it fell out of the back of the four wheeler at recovery. Found it 2 years later and head is still good. Thats the only one I even replaced a o-ring on.
Please clarify....you are not shooting the original blades? If you are you should have your lis. pulled

1st was the small screw models (problem model, If you still have them and call Rage and inform them they will ask you to send them back to the company and they will send you the new 2011 models)
2nd was the role pin models
3rd (for 2011) new large screw that works great, easy to change, and does not come loss!
Models I used were the new 2011 models fresh off my shelf!

That's where u are wrong, the number of blades makes a big difference. Cut Diameter doesn't mean much at all. It's about cutting Surface!
Now your 2" rage two blade have a 2" of cutting surface, meaning they do damage to 2" of tissue. A ST standard has 1" cut dia but it also has 2" of cutting surface which cuts 2" of tissue. The damage done by both heads are the same. Now a ST Mag that it 1 1/8 cut diameter has 2 1/4 cutting surface. So infact does more tissue damage then your two blade rage.... Number of blades do matter.
On a side not, STs are way stronger then a muzzy and the MX4 u claim are the same as a ST are not even close. The MX4 fly like crap and arnt as tough... Look at any poll on the worst tuning broadhead. You will see that the MX4 always takes the cake.

Now to the OP, your not the only person to have issues with a Rage. I've personally see the blades come completely off 2 different heads shot by 2 different people. There are also a ton of other guys that claim to have had the same issues plus blades comming open and also problems with lack if penetration.

Great post with a lot of truth.

what about 100gr nap thunderheads??
I killed hundreds of critters with them but never could get them to fly with my field points.....The Aero Heads, which I think Trophy Ridge has now are all I will use now.
We actually had a guy kill a Bull Elk with a Homemade long bow and obsidian point

Why would I frown?
I never said Rages wouldnt do the job, just that they don't do it any better than any other head. That and they have a history of failures, but that's also what happens when a lot of people use them.
I'm actually a GrimmReaper shooter, I've always liked front deploy mechanicals and GRs are devistating and u will have to search real hard to find anyone say they've had one fail.
Here is the havoc a Reaper causes

And that's not even the 2" WT specials.

G5 T3's!!

Im with Kentucky g5 t3 ..... I lost a 176 inch buck a couple years ago with the rage 2blade they just don't hold up the blades bend when you hit bone and the dang o rings suck..... it my dad killed the buck with a gun and my broad head and part of the arrow was still in the deer a week after I shot him I got about 3 inches of penetration and both blades were bent ..... I will never shoot a rate again after that .. slick trick or a g5 for me

This buck was shot at 28 yrds,40 lb bow.........Rage,one blade snapped off on entry, high shoulder, tip of head barely poked through opposite side(blade kept it from going through.Buck found three days later....alive

Oh.. Did I mention.. G5 T3's???

Buddies G.F KY,.....I field tested the G5 Montecs when they first came out too....nothing wrong with them...your T3's are expandables so I wont say again what I think about em
If they split up give her my number!!

Hahahahah.. I hear ya.. One day when I learn how to shoot and tune a hunt'n bow I'll try a fixed blade out!

Every F ag I know that comes in Jeffs shop shoots G5 stuff.. They are a COPY cat company and support g a y s in the ARMY..

I have shot the Rage for the last 2 years and have not lost a deer. I started hunting from a ground blind this year and was told they would not go through the netting. I bought F15 broadheads and have been pleased so far, but still love the Rage.
