First post here, this is a great forum, I've already learned a ton.

I only have access to three kinds of square tubing. If these don't work I have to drive quite a ways for more options.

My platform will be 6x6 on a 16' Lowe. I am taking a minimalist approach, trying to keep the weight down. I'm big and my friends are big, lol so 4-500lbs on the deck at a time.

Here are my options:

1/2" 16 gauge
1" 11 gauge
1" 14 gauge

From what I've read, guys have had luck with the half inch. what are your thoughts? Thanks in advance

Here's my boat (before I've fixed it up)

1"x2" thinwall square tubing for framing. Come off of the existing front deck and come back to the middle bench, but it will need to be a tad bit higher in the back to keep it level. Using the existing front deck will cut a lot of weight. No need for a raised deck on that boat.
