GanderMnt. Ultra led .....has stood up to the elements..bowfishing,duck hunting,deer,camping...
Tried a few others...didn't last ...sure there's lots more good ones just don't buy a cheap knock off from eBay or somthing

lowes carries "coast led headlamps" bout $40 they are focusable, and dimmable 150lm and run off 3 aaa batt. will run all nght for 3 fishin trips.

got some other lights off Ebay- they are also focusable, rechargeable 18650s and 1400lm. they are great for tracking or running the outboard at night. they dont last but 2hrs a charge tho. also about $40 from china

No preference really, as I just use them for knot tying, gear fixes, etc.
I do like the models with the top strap as they tend to stay put.
Also, I hate a light that I have to cycle thru blinks or colors to get back to off.
They just need to stick to single on/off lights and not all that other crap

I use a Fenix headlamp for everything bowfishing, trapping, and running bank poles. When I turn it on it's like the sun came out, and the battery life is great but on the down side it was over $100

did some poking around. my very best headlamp pick is the Coast HL8. it 344lm , last 20hrs on 4 aa batteries in a pack the can be on the headlamp or comes with a 3' cord to move the weight off the head to the belt. and its twist focusable and under $60.-ebay

yea theres a ton of lights out there that put off more light, but of all the leds ive owned the Coast led lensers are the best quality. and the ease of finding standard aa or aaa batteries keeps things simple. lithiums are great till they are dead and you caint find replacements for a night of fishing.
