Its not the safest to have a throttle that is locked and won't go back to idle in the event you fall over the boat.

Just rig up a foot or hand throttle with a 3 series (10x32) push pull cable. They are extremely tough and reliable. Thats what I use on the throttle and shifter for every kicker setup I do.

Heck....that cable is my "CRUISE CONTROL".....Set the speed and then its hands free until I slap the red knob and it immediately goes to slowest idle....Works great.

And....No way would I ever fall "over" this boat...

Good looking boat but wheres your fan shroud? Looks dangerous!

I have run my older boat, the one before this one, like that with no fan shroud for over 20 years...no problems. Just got to stay away from low hanging limbs and branches....which there are very few of where I use the boat. In fact, it unusual to see a flounder gigging boat here on the Texas coast that has a shroud.

How high are your rails?

34 inches on the rail....keeps me from falling out...!

..
