My buddies us a 15hp tiller. It is fast enough to catch up to most fish that spook early and trolls nice and slow at idle. They have a 1648 modv. They run in 15mph water sometimes so the extra motor helps fight the current.

I used to have a old 9.9 and old 15. Both trolled great but the motors had problems because they where old. I just got a 25 I'm going to try:grin:. My buddies and I run a lot faster pace compared to most boats. Hahaha:D

If the azz end of your boat can support an extra 100lbs or so, slap a 9.9 on there. Aint no such thing as 'too much' when it comes to motors. :hb:
Yep my kicker a 502 lol :hb:

Update after I took the 25 out this weekend a couple trips. The 25 works but is a beast to control the throttle. It ran quick at idle but still vary shootable. Also with the added weight of the larger motor motor made it chisel plow into sand and would hang up on logs and stuff more.

15hp seams to be a nice size for trolling. I'll still use my 25 in deeper/ faster water:pop:.
