Ok, so i messed up it seems. You oneida fans obviously love them because they work! Just spent 220 bucks on a bowfishing recurve and now i found a almost new condition phantom. What should i do? It is 3 hours away. Hes asking 150 bucks, im sure hell take 120. What can i tell my wife... and oh, can the limbs and riser just be painted?
Thanks guys,
Dan

Looks like your gonna be taking a ride.....lol. Tell the wife that these bows are kinda rare and not made any more and that you need to rescue it. Also if this bow is setup as a hunting bow try to buy it as a bare bow.

I went and looked at a 35-55# aero force that was set up with sights, drop away rest, fancy stabilizer, quiver and hunting arrows and a release. He wanted $150, well got him down to $120 then worked my magic, started the bare how haggle, figure rest worth $10,sights $10,stabilizer $10,release $10,arrows and quiver another $10 so deduct $50 and $70 for bare bow???? He looked puzzled and said that sounds right, and asked are you sure??? He said I don't know but sounds right and adds up, had worked truck so had tools and took sight, rest, quiver off and handed him $70 and asked him if we were good, still looked puzzled but said I guess so..... Shook his hand and took the bare bow for $70 when wanted $120 with a lot of old hunting parts we aren't gonna use

Then tell the wife you'll be just as cool as all us Oneida shooters and let her shoot the recurve,And take the wife along and make a road trip day of it and get lunch somewhere and make it fun

And yes it can be painted

Tell your wife you are going to buy a new bow......Or don't tell her anything. It's really not information that would be considered "valuable" for a wife anyhow.:shh:
Garp, if you pulled that chit with me, the price would be headed north instead of south. But, that's how I woulda done it too.

If just go and don't say nothing first, then have to try and explain a 6 hour "where you been" since is 3 hrs away and then try to explain why your 3 hrs away if had an accident or breakdown way out of town, personally I wouldn't drive 3 hrs for a phantom, figure gas up and back and time to get it could see if skippy or someone has a good H Series or Screamer for $150-$200

I hope skippy sees the theead so he remembers i want one and hope to get one eventually. Regardless, its going to be a now and later blue riser and black limbs. When the time comes ill involve all of us in a custom paint job thread! You guys rock! Thanks for all the good advice and bad advice! Wish i could hang with some of you guys. You all are a riot!

Point of this thread for those who dont understand is (if you read the first post) that i was trying to horn swagle my wife into letting me get "2" bowfishing bows in 1 week. Think that pretty much sums it up... dont know if im missing anything..

Don't take offense, it's only Stickem and we usually just ignore him when makes stupid comments.... We all know what you meant in your first post

Anytime I try to show my girlfriend something on here she does the whole nodding and Okay I don't care thing. That's the difference between your average bowfishermen and your serious bowfishermen. :D
