Tagged along with my Dad for a couple years taking some wishful shots. Dint remember my exact first one. After 37+ years of bowfishing they kind of all blend together.
But i di know it was a small common around 5 lbs probably.

My first fish landed was a common on a flooded soccer field when the river rose and flooded the park. I got 3 or 4 that day and a few pull offs. I went once before with an old recurve with a spool taped on, but never hit anything and lost my arrow right away. Few years later my first time on a boat and fisrt time at night, my first was a dogfish. That was it I was hooked, I bought a boat within 2 weeks and been goin and upgrading ever since.

First fish was shot with a ghetto rigged bow at a fish that will go unmentioned for legal reasons. lol

lol same here a hand wrap reel on a 70# hunting bow, took probably 30 shots at it before I hit it, some fish are just more stupid/brave than Carp I guess.

After I was leaving I asked a cop out in a different parking lot if it would be ok to bowfish and he told me no it would be discharging a weapon in city limits so I didnt go back, but it was a blast. I took all my fish away and disposed of them unlike the ones that would get stuck when water went back down and die all over the park but rules are rules I guess.

My first fish was a small buffalo. I had been shooting for probably two years never hitting anything. I had a old recurve with a drink bottle wrapped in line on it for a reel. We had an old pontoon with a few batteries and a spot light. After two years of never hitting anything I hit 7 that night including a +70lb. grass carp.

Common carp, Chippawa River outside of Mt. Pleasant Michigan. 12lbs shoot with my dads old Ben Pearson turned down to 42lbs(as low as it would go). THird shoot and been addicted every since over 39 yrs. Dad dug that same bow out this summer and started shooting fish with it again. Brought back alot of good memories.

A spotted gar just shy of 3 foot on Lake Fork was my first. I hit it on my first shot ever, and then didn't hit crap for the rest of the night!:headbang: been hooked ever since. :tu:

My oldest son had been going for a little over a year. The youngest a few months. They were talking about how much fun it was though neither one had hit a fish yet.. We started putting a boat together for them (had no idea what I was doing). First night out after about twenty + shots I connected with a three foot spotted gar maybe six or seven lbs tops. My oldest shook his head in disbelief that I'd hit one.. He was pulling the fish up with the arrow and just looked at me. I told him I'd studied up on the internet how to do it... He tipped the arrow down and the gar dropped into the water off the arrow...Say's it wasn't on purpose but I'm thinking maybe!! I love to pick on em when I can.

My very first fish. Just a comman and I learned to carry a scale now so I can keep track of my biggest.
