It's got to be more than 60 because the carp spawn above 62 and longnose spawn a month or so after they start.

I done a little digging and found some info.The data didn't seem to mach up exact but best I got from it was longnose and spotted spawn around 70, gator gar around 75 and shortnose close to the same temps as carp.Maybe the Gar Guys or someone will shed a little more light on it for us.

 

I think Gator gar are around 65, like carp, but need rising water!
Garguy knows about that.
Longnose here are like what Throughthegills says.

 

Very good! The temp needs to be above 16c but must be rising and water must be rising. Even if the temp is right, a slight drop in water will immediately stop the spawn. gar can hold eggs for months if nec.

Are u talking bout the water rising in rivers or lakes?

 

Exactly the same goes for lakes.

10 4 havnt hunted on the trinity but all of mine have came out of Toledo Bend. It's got some big ones also. Nuthin like Rollin up on one in couple feet of water at night!!!
