Tons of groups have the same problem. A small % of folks run the show year after year. Most people join only to find they bought a really expensive bumper sticker. You get out what you put in. Most don't have the time or money to go any further. I dropped my lsba membership because I don't have the time to be active, I can't afford the tournaments. And I dang sure cant outbid the same jack wagons every year on the cool hunt auctions. It's heart breaking to have some @$!:) with money blow your budget out of the water with his first bid. I simply can't afford to be a member of alot of things.

However texas must have a bowfishing voice. We will lose it all if we don't stand.

Where and who are the officers? "Board members"? Can anyone of you people even tell me what the current member total is at? Seems like the current TBA needs to be trashed and start over as far as "rules" and "by laws" go at least. If the people in control can't answer simple questions like these then it's worse than I thought

Here's how this should go to comment.

1. Are you willing to help out and become/already are a member. (if the answer is no then quit B****ing)
2. Do you want to scrutinize and argue with people who enjoy the same thing you do and want the TBA to succeed. (if the answer is yes then quit B****ing)
3. Do you have any useful information other than the obvious that things arent working. (if the answer is no then quit B****ing)
4. Have you put forth an effort or are trying to put forth the effort but continue to be belittled by other people for no apparent reason? (If yes then coninue B****ing at the people who arent helping.

It's pretty obvious from peoples post, comments, the website etc. that things aren't exactly working and need to be restructured or have some change but getting into a p*ssing match on an open forum isnt going to help anything. Jace has stepped up to try and help get things straight so lets all lend him a helping hand in getting this thing back together where we can. And if your not willing to help please refer back to numbers 1 & 2 :co:

Yea have said he was gonna do the website (thanks jace) that still leaves us with a lot of unanswered questions. Currently the TBA is such a joke even finding a person to ask is nothing short of a wild ass goose chase. So far the only people I've seen that are "connected" to the TBA are not much of a help or forthcoming with any info

Jace, please simplify the website, I think most of the "junk" should be removed. Get it down to an about us(what the TBA does and the member benefits). Contact info for every region and either a map or list of counties that the region includes. A schedule of TBA events(online discussions can be planned here also), tournaments and such the TBA is sponsoring. Definitely a Paypal option for paying membership dues. Have a membership list(that the member can opt out of) and also contact info for those to wish to have this posted. Tournament results page maybe? I think off of the random pics and videos link can go at least for now. Get back to KISS and go back and add more stuff as the TBA grows

That is because you sir are being nothing short of pessimistic and negative about everything in regards to the TBA and the people associated with it you want answers from. How about we quit arguing about the problems that are current and discuss the future. That business degree thats been thrown around could sure come in handy with restructuring/developing/fixing the TBA. I think "Hey I have a business degree from Texas Tech, Love the sport and would love to provide insight wherever you might need it so we can get this thing fixed." would sure work a lot better than "What you a**holes have been doing isn't working and I want answers now."

Oh also a section on the TBA website for ALL of the rules and by-laws, if they're not in writing anywhere than start over(and that doesn't mean two asshats sit together and come up with stuff on their own) again kiss with the rules

Can't fix a problem until you fully understand it, and getting any Kind of answers and info is next to impossible

Oh I also read that their is apparently an email that goes around to help keep people in the loop? How about a mailing list for this type of thing, all members emails would automatically be sent a memo or update of what is going on in recent events with the TBA. Also make this to where non TBA members can sign up to receive the news letter so that people who are interested in the TBA, but are unsure can get info about what is going on

Well... I was going to put this in a PM, but since we now have this thread to discuss things...

I am curious how you, Tony, are speaking for the TBA when you are no longer a board member or officer? All of the previous board members term expired last year.
Second, how is it that no matter who or how many people volunteer to help out in various positions, only people from NE Texas are allowed to serve?

Is there a written copy of the by-laws? I remember the discussion when the by-laws were being considered, but a copy was never posted for a membership vote! You can go back and check that on the web site. As I recall, that was the first big fight between the board members.

The TBA was built on tournaments. Tournament sanction fee's paid for all the other things. Then 1 board member decided that the TBA was no longer a tournament organization and a new group (LSTT) would run all the tournaments in the state. Any group that did not wish to join LSTT was effictively black balled.

There was never any organization to the TBA. No one could decide who was responsible for what function. Memberships were never mailed out, website was not updated and board members could not agree what to do or when.

Do you still wonder why TBA has so few members?
Let me try to answer some of these questions.

New people taking over have many questions, and the ONLY previous board member who has returned an email to me was Tony.

Only people from NE Texas? 3 board members. 1 from NE Texas. I am the sec./treas. Would you like to step up for your region to be a board member?

The TBA still is a tournament organization. LSTT is a club that probably won't be around next year. Will we still have tournaments in our regions? Yes, and they will still operate basically the same, But the LSTT club is just a name. The TBA is what we need to focus on.

I have a copy of the by-laws. (got them yesterday) And I agree they need to be on the TBA website. That was one of the problems I saw because I was trying to help make things better but rules or laws were put into place to keep things from changing. If it needs changing it needs to happen. Not wait a couple months and vote. Vote Now! This isn't congress! This is "good ol' boys" coming together to protect bowfishing.

Also is there a list of the regions and the officers who "represent" them? TBA sounds like a ****ing democratic republic. Too many rules a by laws. **** needs to be simplified majorly!!!! It's time to rebuild
This is on the current website but not updated. Not to call out Robert but he hasn't been updating the website.

Member total changes every day as memberships expire.

Go email people on the TBA website under contacts. Have you even looked at it? I know its not updated but they can still point you in the right direction. As I said before, the ONLY person who returned my email on that list was Tony. so you might start with him. Dustin/JJ/& Marty Mc. are the only board memebers as of right now.

The email is not to keep everyone in the loop. It's just for board members and officers. There is no newsletter, maybe you could do it?

I'm all about it, I'll help any way I can. It appears there is probably already a board member for my area though. Jace would you forward me the email of bylaws and such? I'd be more than happy to do a newsletter. Just need to start getting a mailing list together and content. First thing that could go out in the less letter would be a freakin copy of all the rules, that way people can at least see what were working with. Also if X board member can't return emails or doesn't care to take the time to do so we need to get them replaced with someone that will take it seriously enough to do so.

I've stated it before with my work schedule I won't have a lot of time to attend meetings in a certain physical location but I am more than willing to help with the cyber side of things getting info more accessible to the members

copy of the rules? it's like 100 pages....

Amen Brother, Preach On. We need to figure out what is broken and fix it. Not wait on someone to fix it for you.

- update your facebook page more often
- offer membership to be paid for with paypal online
- sponsorship info listed too
These are good along with:
tournament postings
points race
a key set of tournaments for a total TX points race - 6 tournaments in lieu of the different sections of texas
communication
no *****ing online between officers
Members list online with status od membership
kids shoot and promotions (sell towles and shirts online to pay for website listing & extra money goes to the kids shoot)

With my work schedule it is impossible for me to be online anytime during the week with the exception of my lunch break unfortunately I'm not graced with the luxury of a desk job so my duties as a board member are limited to evenings and weekends

I have the list of Tba members current and all past members and like jace stated the number of current members changes almost daily
