I'm looking for an idea of where to go for a self guided gator gar trip for a buddy & me. Want to be fairly close to IN so we can do it on a weekend.

i got one pinned up in my swimmin hole but the land owners got mad @ me for runnin off with thier daughter on the new tractor and drinking all his beer, think i can still sneak in there as long as the dog drinks enough to pass out.
i heard louserana had a few, might wanna try over there instead, heard he got a new dog that dont drink!

Wow thanks for all the friendly help fellas!! I guess I was more looking for a river or reservoir, not a spot. It's all good tho, I never knew a gator gar spot was that secretive. I'll learn tho right. We were all dumbsheets once.

Oh, why didn't you say that..Choke Canyon , Trinity river , Amistad, Sam Rayburn , Toledo Bend, La. Delta coastal areas just a couple places to look for them, proven areas for G.G but not for a weekend trip from Indiana. Texas is a big state with a lot of water never been there but know that much but not specific where or how..

even if you know where I fish, you still got to know how to hunt gator gar and when to go when to move and when to ... well you know... you just got to know what ur doing...I don't shoot them poor stupid lake gar trying to do it...I kill them smart mind reading, one step ahead ofya gangster gar! they know when your in their house, when they roll in that chocolate milk muddy water, they roll like a crack head acrobat 3' from the boat... you shoot and nothing... how the heck do you miss a7' long 5 gallon bucket!?!? happens all the time... for real bra...

Lmao ain't that the truth bro. The first time I fished with bubba he told me that he would put me on a big one Rollin right by the boat. But he said that it just as well come up and chit all over me cause I would miss it. I told him that the fish I shoot are shorter than them far are wide, and how do you miss a fish that big.

heard that, I missed a half dozen of em one day that rolled 10' or less from me. By the time my brain got done chitting it's mind out I fired a half ass arrow.... a swing and a miss! im a bbig believer in the bounce off. I never miss, just bounce off those tough suckers but really i do believe you have to hit them square or itll bounce
