I've used the slides for 7-8 years now and before that i used the old muzzy cable system.I've never tried a spinner as i like the retriever reel and see no reason to change.I've had a little trouble once in a while with mud or clay pluggin up the slide but thats it.I've noticed alot of guys talking about the slides and shock pads breaking or the pad screws falling out.In the 7-8 years i've been shooting slides i've had one pad screw loosen or strip out and never broken a slide. How many days or trips are you guys taking a season to wear equipment like that?I put over 60 days on the water last year and didn't have slide failure,i'm sure some go more then i do but just lookin for an explanation of how the slides are breaking like everyone says.

Ok lets recap

#1 Slides takes longer to reload.Time saved equals more fish in the boat
#2 Slides Cost Money
#3 Slides take a lot longer to retie
#4 Shock pads break constantly
#5 Stop screws never stay tight
#6 Stop screws wreck your arrows when they come out
#7 Stop screws come out causing you to lose arrows
#8 Rings bend and go over the stop screws causing you to lose arrows
#9 Rings break all the time causing you to lose arrows
#10 Rings wear a groove in your arrow
#11 Mud on the arrow causes them not to slide right and screws up accuracy
#12 Using slides allows you to shoot without pushing a button
#13 Slides will slide to the front of your arrow pulling out line. That can cause all sorts of problems
#14 Rings always hang up on the front and back of your arrow
#15 If you forget to push a button you trash reels and lose arrows
#16 Slides allow your arrow to be reeled in backwards
#17 There is only one or two decent nocks made that allow you to be able to change a slide without having to cut your nock off first. You can change rings tho without cutting off a nock by pulling the stop screw or by using a point like a Sure Shot
#18 Slides make it a lot tougher to keep the slack reeled up.That's not a problem when you tie to the back
#19 Rings are notorious for eating line from rubbing against the arrow and being slammed against the stop
#20 Using a slide does not eleminate the possibility of an arrow coming back and hitting you

I spent over 40 days on the water last year and killed over 5,000 fish. There has been years that I have spent a lot more time on the water than that. How many fish do you actually kill and how rocky is it where you fish and how many pounds of draw weight do you shoot?I'm only asking because I'm here to tell ya' that I have trashed an ass load of slides and rings both
Not here to get into a spittin contest with anybody, was just wondering how you all broke so many slides, wasn't even worried about the snapback issue.#2 i wanna move south if your killin 5000 plus fish for 40 trips at 125 a trip.I killed just a tad over 400 commons and gar this season for my 60 trips.Guess we don't have the fish population up here like you got there.I shoot a fish hawk or hydrostrike at 40lbs. and most of the lake bottoms are mud or clay,so i'm assuming your shooting rocky bottoms to break slides? Not sure about the slides taking longer to reload,i shoot a wave rest and can reload pretty quick.Slides cost money?Compared to what we all have in our boats the slide cost is nothing.Agree they take longer to retie-no doubt.Screws coming loose on the shock pads-dab of loktite or epoxy cures that.Slides do pull the line out of the bottle unless you got your finger on the trigger all the time.Mud on the arrow does cause a problem. And the slides over the nok stink unless your building your own from scratch and put the nok on last.I guess what it boils down to is personal preference and guys will use what they want. After all that i'm still amazed at 5000 fish a season,i don't think there's that many carp in our whole stinkn state!

Slides are the way to go if you can't afford a 15 cent side you need to stop bowfishing . I can cut and retie my line with a slide faster than u can put that double line thru that little hole after 15 hrs on the water. And for those not use a retriever bottle you need to upgrade .
Wow!Bud,you been drinkin or like to poke hornets nests for fun?Maybe you just had a "Sheen" moment?

Easy on the YANKEE stuff brother. Some of us are a lil sensitive about that lol. Im not very far from Misery (missouri) but I have been told several times that Im a yankee, so I guess I must be even though I dont feel that I am. :)
Agreed there, who cares where everyones from, the wars been over a long time. We're all here for bowfishing and thats what counts.
