how is it split up on the outlets and what are the outlets rated for?

 

Tried splitting it up a couple different ways. An not sure bout what they rated for I'll have to look

 

yea, need to check your amp load per breaker...

and it could be that you running too much. Them ballast lights pull more than what watt bulb they run.

 

Also, are you trying to turn them all on at once. Just turn a couple on at a time. They use more watts when you first plug them in. But You should have plenty, something to try though.

 

Thats only with smaller HID lights. A 250w or 400w HID light starts at a low wattage and then builds up. Opposite of a 150w or a 175w light.

 

An its not throwing any breakers. Also I'm not turnin em all on at once

 

Do you have a 220 plug maybe run off that to a box then split it to 110 from there that way it will carry the load with mor amps just a thought if you have not tried it thay way yet

 

What all do I need and how do I get it back down to 120 if it's hooked up 220? I just don't c how u can split it back down

 

Buy an adapter to run off the 240 plug...you get 30 Amps from it

Man this thread really helped me a lot when I had a genny question! My prob on my 3500w (peak) champion was I was using a 240 plug but only one hot wire was runnin to it.... It takes 2 hot wires as it splits from all the lights and goes into genny. My solution for 3 400w hps lights, 2 1000w power converters (which ran the trolling motor) was to buy an RV plug which only needed ONE hot wire to get 3500 total watts.
This may not help at all but I know looking at the lighting thread will at least make you smarter. : ) Hope you get it figured out as I know the people on bfc have always great to help me.

 

That's what I'm workin with... If them 120s r 20amps each then amps isn't my problem is it?

 

amps are fine as long as its split up, should be about 11 amps on each receptical

 

Looks to me like you have a 14A breaker and not a 20A. You will pop it everytime unless you run a split 120V system. If you need any help Im in b'ham I will give you a hand wiring it up.

 

It ain't throwing the breaker. It's sittin here runnin right now my 7 250s r on an 1 of the 400s. The other come on for like a minute then goes off everything else stays on

 

Ok the light is the problem. Even when u unhook everything but it it still goes off... Weird thing is if u plug it up to the wall it doesn't cut off... What's up with that?

 

Try a different bulb.

 

I believe that the 240 plug in will have a nema number on it. write it down and get a plug with that number. I read that it is ok to run 240 to the front, as long as you split, and ground them, inside a dry box. It is really hard to believe that a house starts with 220, and then grounds the two legs in the earth ground. That is why, the only way to defeat a lightning strike is with more earth grounds. lightning will take the short route, and avoid your expensive tv.

 

whens the last time you changed the oil??? sounds crazy but try it...
