Looks good man. Heavier the better. When you get a few made up ill test a couple for at just let me know what you want for a couple.

 

Thanks! im gonna test em out on some fish and if they work will start sending them out. These will be much easier to make in larger quantities. I'll still make the other points as well for those that like them.

 

Just curious what do the flutes do? Cut through water better?

 

The way i cut them seems to help them go through the water better and it also helps a lot with penetration on the fish. Some of the other point designs i have played with would completely bounce off of a soft common carp but when i cut the flutes it would blast right through them.

 

I think I actually like the looks of thes better. The last ones worked great though and do seem tougher than the std muzzy's. I didn't have any of them smashed flat las trip.

Are they threaded far enough to go on a Piranha long barb?

 

The threads are about 1/2" deep. They fit on the cajun point that came with my kingfisher.

 

rcdinaz it aggravated the heck out of me when i smashed my cajun points and my friend says her muzzys would flatten out too. good steel doesn't cost that much and heat treating aint that hard i don't see why they cant make em tougher.

 

If they make em too tough then we won't be spending money everyday buying new points!

 

Good work man, id like to see you get a couple cinder blocks and shoot a muzzy, a cajun, and one of your tips into them and see what holds up best/does the most damage, thatd be pretty awesome!

 

Got my interest if they hold up. I agree the muzzy and Cajun flatten out pretty fast.

 

If i can dig up the money i get some muzzys and cajuns to destroy. These should hold up just as well as my others and i have heard no complaints about them yet.

 

I took the one above and shot some limestone 7 times and a 55gal drum 7 times. In my river at least, the bottom is all limestone and it is full off car parts and oil drums so it is what i would run into. I getting the video ready to upload on youtube. I'll post it in a little bit.

 

 

I think your onto something, if were a Cajun tip would have been thru at least a tip with every shot, good job and would be interested in some of these tips. Keep up the good work and will be sending a pm

I think i am going to try to shoot them out of my dads 55# recurve might have to use a new shaft though that one been beat to hell. I have a chunk of armor steel i might shoot at for $hits and giggles.

The biggest problem i have with the jack hammer tips isnt flatting the point but the barbs breaking the base of the tip or wearing a groove in them . If you could make them like a jh with flutes and way better steel they would be awesome . I liked the flutes because you could grip the tip and twist it even when they were muddy or slimey .

 

X2 have the same problem with the Cajun tips is they break at the base and barbs flip around , lost several big rays this past year due to them breaking under pressure and barbs flipping around, thought was just tip not tight but actually was POS metal in the new tips

 

I think im going to change the angle on these and bring it back further to give it better penetration. If i can get access to a better mill i want to make some with flats but my mill is a POS and i dont think i would get even flats. I am gonna try to find the money to order some more steel to get some made, tested, and shipped out.

 

How much money do you need for steel? I would be will to throw in to get a few to try out.

 

Its only like a dollar something a foot plus a few bucks shipping I can probably just borrow a few bucks if i know i am going to sell some. Gonna make a drill collar and set up a cutting jig so that i can turn them out faster and more efficiently.

Any body that wants some just pm me so i know how much steel to order.

I have yet to get a grapple so i am not making points for them yet but will try in the near future

Got some steel ordered today.
Because of some concerns about the point being too blunt i pulled the taper back farther to make it pointier. here is the one i made today.
