I have a Honda 2000 gen and motorguide 55lb 5speed troller,How many HPS hpf 150watt lamps can I run with a tm convertor? What size convertor do I need and where do I get it?Also I might be able to come up with a couple of 250's hpf how much more do they draw?Could I run 2 250's and 2 150's and a convertor on my gen?Need the best set up for the single 2000 for now plan on buying another 2000 mid summer but not a present just ordered a new Osprey to replace the old bow I had that got stole!I have 6 hps hpf 150w's now and am fixing to inherit 2 250w hps hpf's but only really need power 4 lights as of now,Haven't run any of this yet just built deck and trying to determine what all I need to mount for now.I would like to buy a convertor, don't know nothing about them but use to work on boats for living so can learn fast just getting into this new technology,I've bowfished with an old oneida since around 1990 before they were popular with a homemade seat and a big Zebco/with the leader and swivel slider on the arrow which just figured out on my own after alot of skinned forearms from line!I have a 12year old now and want to get him of the darn ps and outdoors!

you are gonna need a dls 55 which pulls 1000 watts by itself maxxed out which draws 12 amps so that alone will max your genny out.i got the same genny and am still learning the whole converter thing too so someone please correct me if i'm wrong or tell me that i'm right..............

Dsl 55, Max AMP Draw 13, Max watt draw 950,

:cf: 13amps is 1560watts where dose this 950watts come from?

thats what i'm talking about i got the watts in the genny but not 13 amps.OBG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????????????or someone...............
If you have the watts you have the amps.

The real question is where does the 13 amps Iota shows come from? The tag on the converter says 950 watts and I have never been able to make a DLS-55 use more than that.
Well obg knows all so 950 is 8amps and your 2000eu can put out 14.5amps (safe) so you have 6amps to use so you can run 4 150hps with caps you can turn them all on let them get warm then plug in the converter

One more good question,Would 2 250's and 2 70's would be 640 and 4 150's would be 600 right, not factoring the actual pull,Would a DLS-55 and the 250 and 70 set up be doable?Where do you purchase this DLS-55,What is the brand and price?I have collected 2 70watt Hubbell #MIC-0070S-258 ALHPF lights and 2 250watt Hubbell hps hpf lights from a buddy and would like to try this for my first build using the 250's up front! How do I figure the total on this set up?Thanks guys for all of info,Getting started with this set up and plan on buying a new hull and another 2000 honda to utilize more my lights late summer!Need to sell a 21XTB Allison bass boat without power first,Anybody interested I'll make'em a good deal on boat and tube trailer!

The "actual pull" as you put it is the only thing that matters. What the bulb uses-as in 70 watts, 150 watts, etc-has no bearing on the load your genny is carrying. Your genny is powering the ballast not the bulb. That said allow about 90 watts for hpf 70's, about 175 watts for hpf 150's and 300 watts for 250's.

DLS 45 will run most 55 lb trollers.
I run 2 - 150 and 4 - 100 watt HPS and a DLS - 45 on a Honda EU - 2000 with no problems. It is a digital, vari-speed motor guide. I did have problems with a 5 speed 55 lb troller when I went to high speed rather quickly, it would shock the genny and knock out 1 or more lights momentarily. Only happened if the genny was on "eco-throttle" and near idle at the time.

Thanks for all the help guys,I think I'm going hold off on the convertor till I get another genny!I found a couple of charts on here for wattage and amperage on HPS that answered most of my questions,I need another 2000!What about the convertor, where's the best place to look for a DLS-55 since that sounds like what I need!

Depends on what chart you looked at whether or not it is correct for the lights you want to run.I don't think you need another genny to run;
[2] 70 watt hpf hps------180 watts[1.5 amps]
[2] 250 watt hps---------600 watts[5 amps]
[1] DLS-45 converter-----750 watts max[6.25 amps][DLS-55 is better but a DLS-45 will work]
Total---------------------1530 watts[12.75 amps][only when the converter is maxxed]

A EU2000 will handle that with no problems.

I'm going to start with the 250/70 and save the 150's for the new hull,I knowa fellow if you what I mean that has access to some 400's and even 1000's,250's are the smallest they fool with! How much better are the 400's than 250's I usually run tm pretty fast and the backwaters here in Tn aren't usually really wide, I wouldn't be lighting up someones bedroom that lives on the lake will I?I'm not cheap Hubbell's about the most expensive of the lower wattage lights (MICROLITTER)I'm just starting into these lights, use to halos since back in the 90's! Trying to guess at the best setup for my application at the present will probably change as I start going to different states!I figured since the waters that I will be fishing mostly are narrower type coves and flats so I figure at faster speeds and narrower waters to focus the power to the front!I think 400's would be better but 1000's sound even better but don't really know I need some on water experience with these lights before I go putting 4,000,000 watts of lights and 50hp worth of gennies on a 16' rig! Starting small for now,you running the 4-400's on a 2000 honda? Thanks for all the info fellows,I'm sure I'll be needing some wiring gauge help in a couple of weeks!Like to shoot out some these higher powered rigs but would probably spoil me,Fish are pretty cheap right now but the new bow is already starting jack carp by the pound prices up!

Look around i wasted my time and money starting with halos, then mh then 150hps and now 400hps wish i would have just got the 400's from the start and saved some cash!

Oh! I SEE WHAT YOU MEAN!Man I likey,What genny are you running? I looked at the iotas and their very affordable, does everyone use the IQ4 or just standard ones?I know I,m going to need another 2000!I guess what I need now are honda genny specs on amps per plug and Someone already answered the total output wattage,We need a thread just on genny outputs and light requirements! Thanks for the pics that helps alot I'll try to inherit some 400's,I,m dying to get on the water our weather has been chit all month!MAN,I LOVE THIS SITE!Finally bowfishing is getting where it should be and I've been an outcast shooting an Oneida since back when they came out until I found this site

Just a cheep 3750max genny, The 4 400's pull about 15amps so one eu2000 and I have a 12v Trolly so i only need one converter (wish i had a 24v) Most of our converters have the IQ4 but we DON'T put the voltage plug in.
