Shadow, did you get a replacement yet or? Sure sounds like a warranty issue. That is why I try to buy local - would have returned it to Cabela's asap.

I don't get into the pissing match much, but my zebcos are still going strong, with a few spinnerhead swaps. They get used but not abused too badly. 6th season now on my original, 3rd season on an 888. They are both made in China, just like the muzzys.

The retrievers are made in the USA and say so on the package. Not sure about that new cajun hybrid.

Were you really happy with the retreiver? Why the switch?

I got a replacement main shaft that should be here today or this week I would hope.... but yes I like retrievers to a point but there's things that I don't like about them. Mainly wanted to switch it up and try something better I guess lol

Stick with the muzzy they might break but are easy to fix .The ti 20 didnt last me thru 20 fish never shot any of the new zebcos but im betting they wont last . I go thru a reel or 2 every weekend i carry a bunch of new reels already spooled with line and ready to go just fix the broke ones later . Id love to see them make a super tuff spinner id pay a hundred bucks for one in a heart beat

Yeah I'm not really impressed with the muzzy reel that much either... especially paying 126 for mine.... to break in a week with not even 8 fish shot with it, and a production failure happened... and I'm not impressed how's it's been over 5 days for them to ship me a main shaft....

There are definitely better reel seats out there

$126???

You mean the whole bowfishing rig for $126?

Yeah I bought the reel, rod and seat all together. And I didn't break my reel seat, my main shaft stripped out not even a week after buying it.
Got you! Probably just a defective part... Sucks, but it happens. I love my spinner. Tie to da back, PUSH THE BUTTON and stick em. I'm not saying that you never have issues (and quite possibly more issues with spinners than retrievers) but when they are working... Sweeet!!!

One of the biggest reasons these reels break is do to the fact the drag isn't set up properly and people try to hoss in fish or yank it when u stick bottom with roots...loosen the drag and swing the boat around to get your arrow...I haven't had an issue w my muzzy since adjusting my drag...I broke 2-3 before that and have been using the one on my bow now all year with no fails

Yeah i think it was because i might of had my drag alittle tight, I wasnt horseing the fish in but i got the fish to the boat and was getting down off the platform and the fish took off and spooled me and couldn't reel it in after that, But i got everything fixed and figured out now, So Great thanks to mark land!

Yea man the drag will tear those things up. I have two muzzys and I've beat the hell out of em, but I always had my drag loose enough to where they haven't broke yet. Keeping the drag loose will also save you some fish pull offs
