How fast are you going Wesley, it may help these guys that know if these changes are going to get you where you want be?
Not fast enough. Trey you and Lonnie might be able to run me down.

You said you have a 74 or 76" bottom correct? In an 18' boat? I'm willing to be the narrow bottom combined with an 18' hull with that heavy motor is causing it to sit in the water pretty far, alot deeper than most would which is making it just plow water. Your boat is not displacing as much water as an 84" or 86" bottom is causing issues would be a good guess but could be the other stuff too

pitch it to 4800 rpm and tell us what you think. My boat is a dog at 5000 or 5200 but wakes up at 4800. I have tried with with different props at various rpms and pitch. 4800

Im also wondering, I got a 16x8 with a 350 thats got alum heads, roller rockers,650 edel carb. I got it pitched so at wot it runs 4300-4400 rpm and im getting 38-40 mph out of it and I tend to get stuckish with 3 people and in like 6 inches of water. Should I also pitch it to run 4800?

prop is a 78 inch water walker 2 blade with a 2:1 ratio

With that prop/red combo you may move it up a little bit not too much. We just did a 16x8 with that same prop/reduction and set it at 4800 and it would run dry with 3 guys same motor too. It also depends on hat rpm that motor is maxing out it's HP

Taylor I told you awhile back to pitch that so the motor runs towards 5 on that smallblock, i doubt your getting hardly any horse on that motor at that low of rpm.

I've seen Wesley's boat on plane, and it appears it is plowing, nose low, and kicks out water at the back of the deck. His motor is mounted considerably higher in the front than ours, and I believe it is pushing the nose of the boat down. I've suggested he lower the front, or raise the rear of the motor, which should raise the nose of the boat.
