round here they call them non state maintained ramps. its up to you to be able to get in and out safely. that's your state tax dollars, fishing license, boat fees hard at work.
I think there is concrete under all that mud.
Our river boat ramps look like that after high water.
 
We used a "sand ramp" at lake of the Ozarks one time. It wasn't much more than a beach that was washed away til there was nothing but a 4 foot drop left. Unloading was cake. Loading was a bit entertaining. It cost us 5 bucks too. But on the bright side it didn't have a whole bunch of dead gar everywhere....
 
Holes or not. We all get the blame because most of the time there are holes in them.
