This tournament is gonna be the chiteither way if its cold or hot, how many teams usually show up?
This will be the first "winter shootout" should be ten or more boats and a hell of a time. We will have a better idea for the weather as it gets closer to tourney time. Regardless of how "cold" it will be I advise everyone have some dry clothes and a towel on board in case you go for a swim. No one needs to get hypothermia, and we don't all have that natural insulation like some of our members lol

yep, ive broke 3 trollers on that lake in the past 2 years. mostly my fault, trolling to fast to turn in time for stumps. im gonna have a propane bottle with a dome heater onboard for warming hands and such. just in case it is cold.

Good idea on the propane heater, we will be taking one of the mini bottles with a heater if it's suppose to be cold along with some hand warmers. May even take my waders in the event we get hung up some how and someone has to get in lol

ok, heres the rules, subject to change, will be finalized before start of tourney.
1. All shooters must have a Texas fishing license.
2. No bows in the boat the boat the night before the tourney for scouting.
3. All boats will be legal according to coast guard rules.
4. A zone of 100 yards will be maintained from the nearest boat, in the event of 2 boats trolling the same shorline (heading to each other) one boat will have to pull offshore and let the other pass ( someone has to give way). Exception- rendering aid to stranded boaters, stuck, anyone needing help, just being a good samaritan.
5. No cast nets or dip nets in the boat, a gaff will be allowed no longer than 5 ft.
6. Trailering will be allowed.
7. Boundries will be from highway 84 near logansport louisiana all the way south to the dam. Any area south of the damn is off limits.
8. A vote on shad shoot will be voted on with a sperate pot.
9. In the event of a tie biggest fish will be the tie breaker.
10. For big fish pot, tie breaker will be decided by vote before the start of the tourney.
11. All boats are allowed, airboats, torllers, fans, paddles, etc.
12. Tournment registration will begin at noon on the 17th at the sabine lake inn. Event will begin at 5pm, and late registration will continue untill 5:30.
13. Weigh in will be at 4 am. Teams showing up 10 mins late will be deducted 10 pounds from total weight, 20 min late 20 pounds, 30 mins late 30 pounds. Any team later than 30 mins will be disqualified from the tournment. Exception- any team that had a break down, stuck, or swamped that calls and lets me know the sitiuation. Those teams and the teams that helped them will be exempt from the late weigh in rule.
This is my first time hosting a tournment so i welcome any comments and/or suggestions about the rules. All rules will be stated at the start of the tourney and finalized. These rules are not set in stone but more as a rough draft.
