I joined up today after stumbling on the site researching SC's Gator Hunt. I have applied for the draw hunt here. This is the second year I have applied so I have a preference point from last year. I have always been interested in Bow Fishing but have never been. In fact I have alot of what I would need to get started. I have 2 boats but would probably rig my Sea Ark 1654 with some lights. I have been reading threads, looks like the LED's might be a good plan. So far as a bow I have a Bear Whitetail Master. Probably just gave away my age. I am 39. I was wondering if I turned down the bow if it'd be acceptable to get me started? Been on the water all of my life. Don't know much about bowfishing but, hopefully I can add what I know about boats. I am about 30min. from Santee Cooper.

Welcome to the site and the sport! There are a bunch of guys that bowfish in your area and some nice boats...best advice I can offer is look at a bunch of diff boats before you start so that you have more ideas to go off of :tu:

Thanks for the welcome! Lol! I have been reading here all day! I definately got some ideas, lots of info here. I have seen many a bow rig at the lake. I have been thinking of getting into it for years. I have one of those reels mounted on the bow now that looks like a large bell. I also installed a roller rest. I have a couple of arrows cabled ready to shoot just haven't ever got out and done it. I started thinking about it more than 10 yrs. ago.

Welcome from tx.....throw your wallet In the water cuz all your money is about to go toward it anyway!
Yeah, I remember spending $400 on the Bear bow 20yrs. ago. I have long known about the cost of boats, I have 2. A boat is a hole in the water you throw money in. Been known to learn the hard way. When your slow and stupid you just work longer and harder!
