Just curious. My lights don't get hot at all for some reason.

Strange. I can lean against mine with shorts on and not be uncomfortable. Seems like the enclosed rail would get in the way- keep you back from the edge of the boat? Never fished one and just curious if they served a purpose or were just eye candy.

The bottom is angled so you can get your toes up under it! I like it more than the knee rail we had on our 1648, havent really fished but spent plenty of time standing and playing on wills boat to know i like it! lol

If you're worried about getting close to the edge of the boat just stand on top of the rail, and i built mine bc i wanted to keep the string from getting tangled around stuff, i had just a pipe with the lights under it, but still managed to break a few housings, so i guess being enclosed protects them too, And i think it looks better jmo

At my age standing on the light rail doesn't sound very appealing. lol.

Yea OBG i don't think I could do it easy. I would be in the water alot. Thing of all the times I've ran into stumps (I'm a reckless driver) while trolling and wow I'd be in the water alot! And after a 12 pack I'd really be in trouble! Haha but I don't think it keeps you too far away from the water.
