you guys with smaller boats with the benches still in them, room is a factor for us. My boat is a 14-48 Alumicraft, not to cludder what little space we have is important & safe. Heres something I done with my fish barrel that saves on space & can move around without any problems.

I attached a 3/4" seat post base to the bottom of my fish barrel, sealed the holes were the bolts came through with sealent, and now I can place the barrel into a 3/4" seat pedestal

sure it does, have had it full a few times, the bolts and square washer do just fine. Dont knock if ya havent tryed it.

I don't know how well it would work in my boat, but I like space-saving ideas. If I had a dollar for every time someone said "just run 2 3500w generators together." I don't have enough room for one 3500w gene in my Tracker Grizzly 1648SC.

the s-brackets on each corner of front rail do they raise up for bow holder or lay flat as shown not sure how they work or even if thats what are.

you figure a guy sitting in the boat seat that weighs 200lbs he rocks alittle here & their, yes it leans some, but not nearly as much as you think. For the one that knock it down cause you might think lifting it out of the boat is the problem, I hand pull half my fish out, gaff the other half. You nagitive guys act if their 600lbs in the barrel., when trips vary from poundage to poundage on each trip. For the ones whom like the idea, thanks.

Innovation!! I like it. I cant even remember the days when I could lift a barrel full of fish out the boat. One X on each side before ya set the barrel would most likely take the biggest part of the wobble out if there is any. My old rig is a 17/60....reconfiguring a bit on it right now too. Room is a premium on most any but the biggest tanks out there I imagine.

I like it!!! Good thinkin, could it maybe moved more to the center of the bench to better balance weight?? ya, but the thought of mounting the fish bucket to a pedestal mount, was the thought to move it in the right direction!!! Cheers brother, keep thinkin of more space saving tips... I've had a 1760 and I was still lookin for ways to save space!! :drunk:

thanks you all. I'm 53 yrs old and know my lifting limits, I've always had a good back & watched how I lift. Good suggestion on the location of the barrel poorboybowfishin. I've alway handle unloaded my fish mid way through and gaff the rest out into a gunny sacks and dumped them in my fields at the farm.
It still need to tweeked more so the barrel is sitting more on the bench.

A bit off topic, but what are you using for the floor in that boat? Pin is a good idea too to keep things in place.

1/2" thick marine grade ply with a product called Eco Tuff non skid, 4coats on the top, 2 on the sides & bottom.

You might be able to put "feet" on the bottom of the barrel that are slightly shorter than the gap (between bottom of barrel and bench) when empty. That way once you put some fish in it the legs will sink down and touch the bench preventing the barrel from spinning.
