Started a new thread because ive jumped into this way more than I anticipated, ever happen to you? why does it seem that what you thought would be somewhat an easy thing turns into a an epic journey. So I bought this boat thinking deck, lights , get in the water and start shooting and what im doing is unconsciously tearing the boat down to to its bones, what is my f'in problem?:headbang: Ive taken the decks off which were not the greatest of decks and then tore the carpet up and found the the guy before used the wrong glue and it is smearing every where. whats the best way to clean this crap up ? im planning on spraying truck bed liner instead.

This is what I started with:

found a crack under a sudo patch of fiberglass and RTV silicone gonna weld:

after tearing out the mess

this is that glue crap how would a guy get it down to bare aluminum for paint?

I need a beer

That stripper and for the nasty stuff a 9" angle grinder with a cup wheel. Its how it just did mine and then coated with dura coat. Looks good, although bed liner would of been better. This stuff aint that thick even after multiple coats. Was hoping for a bit more thickness. I know what you mean, i could wrap that up in a couple days right?! Not, try 3 weeks later and im still jacking with it. Nature of boats and our hobby i guess.

alright ive been working on stripping that glue that stuff works great! also using the grinder with twisted wire brush to get it down thought about my thread name and it should more be like "puttin lipstick on a pig remodel". its all about the fishing in the end so its all good

well this what I got done today. still need to do a little more wire grinding. bringing it to the welder on Tuesday and should have it back Wednesday. bought my truck bedliner epoxy by rustoleum hope it hides the holes and rivets. Whats the best way to fill those holes, JB weld?

If you're taking it to a welder just have them weld the holes shut. JB weld is nothing but a temporary fix, do it right the first time.

got my boat back from the welder. paid a little more that I thought for what needed to be done. didn't dare ask what he would charge me to fill over a 100 rivets holes. so ive settled for JB weld. trying to do a good job on the boat but have a budget or lack of a budget. I ball peaned the holes to dish them. and then filled with Jb weld, I then sanded them flush. going to put truck bed liner over the entire floor to gunnel.
