Ive been to the last three yearly meetings of the GBA, and heres my 2 cents. SAC and JC stand up in front of everyone and take in the suggestions and try to put together a schedule of shoots that accommadates most everyone. Throughout the season during these shoots, some show up, some dont,........and a whole bunch of people who DIDNT come to the meeting b***h and moan about how the GBA doesnt schedule shoots on "their" lake or have shoots in "their" format. I was unable to make any club shoots last season due to being wrapped up in the backwater points chase. BUT I was at the meeting and paid my dues! I for one dont blame SAC or JC and for damn sure want no part of the mess! Let the hating begin!

Ain't nobody blaming anyone. We just here to kill fish! Things will all good.

There Wont ever be a way to please everyone. People are gonna shoot the lakes they want to. Honestly I think the best option is gonna be to regionalize the club. Have region officers that schedule shoots on there local lakes. If you want to travel and shoot then you welcome to. When it comes time for the state shoot everybody votes for the lake or rotate between regions. Bottom line is Georgia bowfishing is getting big, it's not just the small group of people anymore. It's getting to the point were one body of people can't cover the whole state anymore. Just my two cents.

I think thats a great idea! I won't be able to make the meeting. But if you decide to split it up in regions, I will be more than happy to handle my area.

Something I have been thinking about to boost participation would be to divide the shoots into two classes. I know three classes was tried a few years ago and that didn't seem to work. People are going to say it will spread the money and competition out too much. With the system we currently have we will have 8-12 boats at the first shoot of the year with 5 or 6 being troller rigs. Regardless of how well these trollers shoot they just cant cover enough ground to compete with the fan, kicker, or airboat rigs. Most of these guys in troller rigs have very little if any experience in bowfishing tournaments and it doesn't take them long to realize once the fish counting starts that they don't have the equipment to compete in the GBA, so we don't see them again. So by the May shoot we are down to 4 or 5 boats. Why not start a class for those who dont feel they are ready to compete with the more experienced bowfishermen in the club. The idea would be that they would keep coming back and become more competitve and eventually decide to step up and compete with everyone else. We cant build this club on experienced bowfishermen there just aren't enough of them around, we have some great bowfishermen in the GBA and there is almost always high numbers shot and good competition and adding another class wouldn't change that, but it might get a few of the more less experienced teams to come back and become regulars.

Do a rookie class. I think Lowcountry did this last year. I believe you can qualify for the rookie class for two years but, if you win two tournaments, then you are pushed into the regular class. Just a thought.

It was cool when low country did it this year. Us less experienced fisherman actually had a close race and came down to the very last shoot to see who won. Needless to say we didn't miss a tournament

Well I would love to participate and even join the gba. But there's not a thread on here for membership. Who do I pay? HOw much? Where does the money go? What are the benefits? A few things I would like to know. ANd I looked at the schedule last year and it seemed like all the shoots were all on the opposite side of the state from me.I'm in the Columbus area. I would also like to attend the meeting but if its going to be 3 or 4 hours away I would need to know in advance to make plans for that. I would also be willing to handle my area if it was decided to handle it that way.

I have been trying to find out for a while how to join. I would run it, but I don't feel like I should try and run it on my first year. Also, due to my location I don't want to committ to trying to run and shoot every tournament on Clarkshill or Oconee when they are so far away. If you do the regional thing, i would be glad to help out. The rookie leauge also sounds like a great idea.

Is there any chance of doing tournaments on the westside of the state? I know of several people here that would do them but are in the same situation as me and don't want to drive to the southeast part of the state when we can drive a closer distance and fish the backwater seriers.
