The 40.00 is ok with a free shirt, be like paying 25.00 and getting a 15.00 shirt..Or just go back to 30.00 and dont have to worry bout what size shirt... The main event thing wont work, its been done people wont come, Keep the worlds OPEN and the team will be there or they wont... But the total weight asian thing would be great... I might make that one.. Just call the local news and a hunting show to cover the tourny.. It would help us out alot, showing everyone we care about KILLING THE GOOD AND BAD...lol

each member is the B.A.A. not just our officers so when you go to hunting shows promoting or have youth shoots it's the B.A.A. we all have to work together to make it work not just ideas if you can go do something that is a positive for our sport then your helping out, but to throw out ideas with no intensions of doing anything does not help bowfishing or the B.A.A. it starts early in cold weather with the promoting hunting & fishing shows even if it's just a booth talking to people, if you would like to learn how we have been doing this come to little rock big buck classic the end of Jan. see how we teach the up coming youth and there parents about our sport. Guys and Gals there are alot of you out there if you come together then we start showing people we have a purpose in life as bowfisherman. For better outdoors take a kid hunting & fishing it's our future. Randy

The site is fixed with the proper membership amounts.............and that might change again come feb :groan:

Just to summarize the agenda items listed so far:

1. Airboat etiquette at the World’s in Guntersville
2. Timeline for tournament directors to report results
3. BAA Event that targets Asian carp
4. More BAA State Shoots, possibly a U.S. Championship tournament
5. BAA member requirement to participate in a sanctioned tournament
6. Two World’s Tournaments, North and South
7. BAA playing a larger role in the State Youth Shoots
8. Re-evaluation membership dues
All good ideas except number 5 this will only hurt participation. Take the Great Lakes Championship this tournament is limited to 250 2 man teams and out of 500 shooters I would say less than half are members. Money from this shoot goes to kids charity. If you start making everyone join the BAA just to support this shoot participation will drop and less money would be raised. Just for the record I am a BAA member too.

I like this idea also. Im wanting Zeak to put a shoot on up on Saginaw bay. Man that place has some gar and big commons!!
Would be will to help make this happen.

I have members asking me all the time about the set World Championship date. They don't like it. I know it will be brought up at the meeting again. Just giving ya'll warning!:)
Long as it stays on a set weekend each year then I'm cool with moving the date. Its just hard to plan around moving dates and work schedule and family.

I think the problem with a set date is the fact you can't set the tournament up to target the best time of year for the body of water. I guess my schedule is more flexible but I would think that if you had the date by November 1st the year before you could plan accordingly.

We need to vote on timeline that the tournament directors have to get results to me for sactioned tourneys. I usually give them 2 weeks and this year I was still receiving them up till about October and those I had to ask for. I say after 30 days if I don't have them then that tournament does not count towards points....
My frustrations also Amanda when I was Points Chairman....it always took forever and constant emails and phone calls to get results from some.

Great idea, Mike about the silver carp. The BAA as an organization should easily be able to capitalize on this. If nothing else look at all the marketing and BAA exposure that could come from such an event. There are outdoors shows all over the US nowadays....one would be willing to showcase such and event...great for them...great for the BAA. Would it take a lot of great minds to pull it together...YES!! But the work put forward would be well worth it for the BAA and bowfishing in general.

have 2 worlds each year. North n south. It would get more north guys involved.
I Agree!!! I would love to attend the world (and Im sure a lot of other as well) but given the current economy and gas prices for many a 1200+ mile drive is just NOT possible!!!

An Asian Tournament would include all Asian Carp species- Bigheads, Silvers and grass carp.........The Asian Invasion!!

The Asian Invasion would most likely take place in the northern"ish" state like KY or north of there. :tu:

Very Much along the same lines as the "Asian Invasion" In more and more location here in the north we are having a SNAKE HEAD invasion, This would also be a great PR opportunity for BAA!!! If I recall "Team River Rat" went to a fishing tourney last year that was open to all forms of fish with the goal of removing as many snake heads as possible, they were VERY IMPRESSED with the effectiveness of bowfishing!
Share the sport of bowfishing and help local fisheries!!!!!

I agree also, number 5 is really the only thing I can see where there will be an issue......I would rather join on my own instead of feeling like I had to....World Championship is a tournament for the members, therefore, you are required to be a member, all other tourneys are not BAA membership required...but, this is why the thread is good....to lay out ideas, and have other input so we can get a feel for what members think, and talk out issues to make it work!

Sounds good Mark and agree on lowering the BAA dues now as well, they are a little high.
Also with the bighead/silver carp issue why not just ensure that next year's World Championships is strictly a bighead/silver carp shoot? Just only take and recieve bids that concern strictly those species and promote it on this basis! I would also suggest still allow a big fish category for the other species we also tend to recognize at the Worlds to give those teams other options as well!
