Guys the membership voted that the tournament date was up to the host at the last spring meeting. The BAA is going to stick with the date as was voted on by the membership during worlds voting back in October. We spoke with game and fish officers and while initially they had some concerns as the date coincides with turkey season, we never received a formal request to change the tournament date (when the dates were first posted so a couple months ago). As far as a company not wanting to donate to the tournament, that is their prerogative even though that issue has been resolved.

The date/tournament location was voted on and will remain as voted on by the membership as many people have requested time off and already made travel arrangements. As far as things being done on the down low, I'm not following. We have strived to be 100% transparent with everything the BAA does. I am not on the forums much these days due to work and a new baby at home but just about everyone can get in touch with Andy or I via email, phone, or Facebook.
thats correct it was voted on by the members who a lot of them don't no what was going on again behind close doors. As a concerned member myself, when the organization I've helped build since the beginning starts losing its sponsorship from a company from day 1 has been there for us because of a date conflict co-existing with there tournament, you are dam right. I have a problem with that.

This is Andy cardwell. I'm curious myself to what's been going on behind the scenes ? As for the dpfw is concerned ,they mentioned a small concern about the date initially due to being the same date as the opening of turkey season. But this has been resolved. As far as any company being mad or jaded over the date this has been resolved as well. And for john Paul not winning the bid he is just as anxious to help grow BAA as he ever has. So those are pretty much the facts.

If there were concerns about the dates it would of been a great idea to bring that up before the vote. Or is that just too much common sense:laugh:

There is absolutely no good P.R. Going to come out for Bowfishing with this being on opening day of turkey season. It was known from the beginning that it was a concern. That's a fact. I'm having a problem with some of these decisions that are being made. Nothing to to with bass pro not getting the bid or anything like that. It's just the wrong date for this tournament. I saying what I'm feeling. I'm pissed off because it was all known from day 1 and nothing was done to fix it. I no I'm gonna take heat on this, but if I can't say what I feel then..than what is the point.

I get it now. You don't turkey hunt so running a airboat for 3 or 4 nights In a row is a good way to call them inn close.i also forgot that them airboats run during the day as well.

So as a complete non-biased argument here. If you are upset with what is going on behind close doors and you know what is Happening DC. Then why are you keeping it quiet and "behind closed doors". My statement isn't made to start a war I'm just curious. Also can someone fill us in on why sponsor is going to drop the tournament due to the date and what their reasoning behind it is? I find it hard to believe an original sponsor of the BAA drops the worlds strictly over it being on a certain day. It really sounds like there is a lot more to the story. Please elaborate because I know your going to gain a lot more support if you have facts of what the hell is going on.

Pretty sure air boats and bowfishing rigs run the lakes and dams pretty much every night of good fishing season. Add the fact that tournament are held just about every week or at least every two weeks during the main season. Sure this is a bigger than average tournament but isn't gonna be anything the turkeys haven't heard before

Sounds like somebody is upset that they cant go turkey hunting opening morning and shoot the tournament too. Guess you can be a world champion bowfisherman or an opening day turkey hunter...your choice.

There was a big stink on facebook about how opening day of turkey season would limit participation and no locals will go because it's turkey season. There's a season every time of year in every state; people will have to decide what's important to them.

I'm still confused about this entire thread, but looks like DC is mad that BPS won't be hosting a 2016 World Bowfishing Spending Spree? I'm glad Tennessee didn't win. Keeping the BAA and big money sponsors separate will keep this tournament a competition rather than a marketing event. There is a place for an event like the US Open and a place for a tournament like Worlds. If they get combined Worlds will disappear.

Agreed. I hate the fact the us open is truly only about marketing and the dollar sign. The worlds is still truly about Bowfishing. I know there is a ton of work that goes into planning, and there will be a huge attendance for the worlds. I saw a lot of people on Facebook saying they already took vacation and booked rooms for the shoot. If the dates are set, and set because that is usually the best time to shoot that lake, then leave them alone. I think you will piss off more people changing the dates now, that it would hurt the attendce more, than the current issue with turkey season

This ain't nothing to do with bass pro not winning the bid. I promise you that. It's about protecting the baa from more newspaper articles and bad p.r. And losing a major sponsor because of conflicting dates and pissing off wildlife an fisheries. I thought the date was going to change because we were still waiting for a answer from wildlife an fisheries and we still have not got 1 yet but we are only in December but it was known from day 1 this could be a issue from them. Then when you have a major sponsor not happy with the date because it was close to there's. That was my concern. I see now that it don't matter because the show will go on.
