What if you up it to 8 or 10 gauge? Thinkin of grabbin one myself. Gonna mount it under the deck bout a foot from the batt, five foot from the genny.
 
From the Powermax installation guide:
The 3' is input distance so the cord will reach.
Minimum of 8 guage wire on the output side
Distance from converter to battery will dictate whether you need to go bigger than 8 guage.[6 guage will work for most all bowfishing boats.]

Anybody grounding theirs as recommended?
I don't do mine but they are mounted to a metal boat that's grounded to the genny. Kinda makes the extra chassis ground unnecessary since the converter chassis is already grounded. Would be a good idea to ground if you have a fiberglass boat or your system is wired different than mine.
