how far can the convertor be from the gen and how far can the convertor be from the batteries im using 6ga wire for everything

your not going to have enough voltage drop with 6ga wire id even be worried about it put them any were in the boat you want just going to cost more in wire by using more feet is all

What if you up it to 8 or 10 gauge? Thinkin of grabbin one myself. Gonna mount it under the deck bout a foot from the batt, five foot from the genny.

Actually you would not be (upping it) but be downsizing with #8 or #10. #8 would be more than than plenty for that close, I'm running #6 18' up to my troller with minimal loss

I can't see why it would matter if the wire is large enough.

I have a powermax and it says 10 AWG is the lowest recommend. So I would go to far with 3awg

From the Powermax installation guide:
The 3' is input distance so the cord will reach.
Minimum of 8 guage wire on the output side
Distance from converter to battery will dictate whether you need to go bigger than 8 guage.[6 guage will work for most all bowfishing boats.]

I don't do mine but they are mounted to a metal boat that's grounded to the genny. Kinda makes the extra chassis ground unnecessary since the converter chassis is already grounded. Would be a good idea to ground if you have a fiberglass boat or your system is wired different than mine.

I didnt ground mine, but I did bond it as recommended.
