Custom boat build

Just wondering if anyone on here has a estimate of what it would run me to do a custom build? If I would go custom
The only reason I want to do custom is because good deals on 1448s are hard to come by as well as the boat itself. If I do a custom build I'm gonna go all out. I have some of my paps buddy's that are welded for PPL (electric company in PA) and they said that they could help me with the build. Just was thinking it would be a good project. Also would anyone know where I could get the aluminum for the build? And I have a Lincoln welder possibly lined up for $150. Not sure on any details of it. Appreciate the help!

It was just something I was considering because the papers were signed today to sell my grandparents restaurant and they said the would pretty much pay for a boat for me to use. It would be an over the top boat for me just knowing that I built it. Im unsure of a good size though.

Ok for everyones information so you guys understand what I'm trying to say. My grandparents are selling their restaraunt and are getting quite a bit of money for it. About $600,000. However, they are buying my mom and me a new house and are planning on giving there kids and grandkids some of the money. They also have to use that money to live there lifes on and my pap just built a huge workshop and woodshop and he is planning on completely redoing their house. I don't want to spend a lot of there money because all I really need them to do is buy me the boat and the trailer (possibly the stuff to build the boat if I do a custom one) and possibly a genny. I might possibly have a full time job when the new person buys their restaraunt so I will have some cash to put towards the boat. In all honesty, I have no idea what I want and are just looking for ideas for a boat. I'm unsure of an actual budget I have but just trying to keep it real. I was thinking that building a boat would be cool because me and my pap could work on it as a project and he would enjoy that too because he likes to work with his hands as well.

I don't think it's a good idea to discuss your family's business activities, in fact I'm sure they would not appreciate that.

Second listen to what people are telling you if your going to ask the question. Obviously money is an issue, as it is with just about every one of us. So that being said weather your grandparents are giving you 100$ or 10,000$ your best best is to look for a rigged up used boat in your price range. Not trying to be rude or discourage you but a custom boat is out of your realm right now. Custom is way more expensive then any used boat you can find and you'll be much happier at the moment.

Now a few years down the line, a little more trips around the block we call life, and a better idea of what type of boat you want then start to think a custom project if you wish.

Your not listening to anything anyone is saying. Have them buy you some glasses so you can read what everyone has told you countless countless times.

You cannot do a custom boat.

You cannot buy the materials for a custom boat for the money you want to spend.

Get a 14ft wide jon boat, a battery or 2 and a q beam spotlight.

You are almost to the point of having people slap ignore your posts, ive seen it happen on other forums. Just quit talking about it and do something.

There is more to building a boat then just a couple sheets of aluminum and a welder.

Once you accept the fact that you arent going to have the 37 ft airboat with 40 1000w hps running honda gennys and accept it, you will find a boat and be happy about it.

Also, if your next door to the restuarant, why havent you BEEN working their...if i was buying the restuarant i wouldn't hire you.

Good luck with w.e you do. Just do something!

personally I think this guy is looking for being socially accepted? Stop trying so hard to fit in. Your posts on all these boats projects or possible projects are unsavory at the most. Bogus is the word I was looking for. The other thing is airing out your grandparents financial business on open form aint cool. It's no ones business what they get for a purchase price, not even yours to be truthfully, if the story is truthful. I own a business and if my daughter disclosed my financial records in open form to her friends or on a chat board, believe me I would be fired up & T-ed to be fit with her. No disrespect attended, "Personally you've just been wean off your mother and have no clue about life or what is in store for you".

Stuff must be real cheap out there for everyone to get a piece of the pie when your selling for that price.. If I was you I would talk to your grandparents about buying the restaurant from them by slowly paying them back and then worry about a boat.. I own 2 restaurants and I can tell you that once you sell there's no more money coming in daily and what you have left is what you sold it for and what that means that money is gonna dry up quicker than you think it will. 600k in today's market is not much at all and if it's a lucrative business it's stupid to sell..

I can't buy the restaraunt for 3 more years and I can't obtain the liqour license for 6 more years. They were gonna keep it until I could buy the place and keep the liquor license in their name but they are getting way to old and they don't even really have employees. It's pretty much whoever shows up to help shows up and whoever doesnt it don't matter. To me thats a horrible way to run a business. The guy who they are selling it to is most likely not going to be able to make the paymetns on it so it will probably be back in their hands and they already told me that if it comes back to them, its mine. The problem is the place is really run down and needs A LOT of work. But I am selling my other boat I have today and possible gonna try to pick up a 14 footer and go from there.

Ok they are getting around $480,000 cold hard cash. The rest gets payed over a 5 year period and they are doing it privatly so if he fails to make paymetns they get it back somehow not sure how. But I found 1436 for $250 (without trailer) Is it possible to do like the one guy on here did and take the boat apart and put a wider floor in? how hard would that be to do? also is this good deal?
