I recently purchased an airboat and the engine has no dipstick to check oil level. Just wondering if this was common for airboat application?

540 chevy motor. it was built from a racing shop, i am assumign that's the reason. Just didn't know if it was common or not.

I don't remember.... does it have a threaded pipe plug in it facing at a angle vertical?

Race car engine builders shouldn't build boat motors. Get you a dipstick...you need one. Just a big block oil pan and dipstick is all you need. High capacity oil pan.

wet sump or dry? dry sump motors don't need them, check oil in tank. was the motor built to be dry and converted to wet? they may have plugged the dipstick hole for dry and forgot about it when they went to wet?
