I think most people on a bow fishing site are DIYs out of necessity. My question is are you trying to sell the information? If not then go ahead and post it! I'm sure there would be a lot less fuss. The fuss comes from making outrageous claims. Its not power at close range that is the issue. It's accuracy and power at a distance that is the issue. I am by no means a great archer but I would put my Z7 against any sling bow. If you can post a video putting 4 arrows in a 2" group at 40yds then I'll shut up instantly. And yes, I am posting for the sake of argument...when garp and rambo get harping on the same side it gains momentum lol. I guess I just don't see the advantage to a sling bow over a bow.

The reason for the question is not to sell it, but to see if it's worth my time filming it. There is no claim it's better, just that it's smaller and more compact. The performance with the same poundage draw weights will be so close it's not even worth talking about. And with a slingbow, just as with a bow, you have to get outside and shoot them to get better with them.

Well then in THAT case I would love to see a video as I'm sure many people on here would. Always interested in learning something new! The OP seemed to me like one of those "I can teach you how to make $20,000/month from your couch...for the low payment of $99"...:D

Well sorry for the confussion. Like I said I was just trying to see if it would waste my time or not. That being said, everyone should think before they post or message them to see what they're intentions are. Because I've spent a lot of time (23yrs) and money building, researching, and injuring myself to get these things as good as a recurve or longbow with it's power and speed. It might not be for everyone, I understand that, because I have a few friends think I'm crazy for shooting archery and not just guns. Well I'm done talking, Later.

Here is how I build the PVC Slingbows based off my metal Slingbow designs. These with the proper powerbands are just as good a shooter as the metal.

enjoyed your video on the slingbow can tell some time was spent on figuring out the steps, if we all just sit around not try guess china just has to build it for us seems like they are happy to do it so far. what strength bands do you use and do the plastic arms ever give way. have been thinking about slingbows science all the discussions about them. does this one in the video also shoot steel balls or does have to be set up different?w.s.

Those only shoot arrows, and the bands I use in them are the medium bands I make for my metal Magnum Slingbows, which will draw 35-45 lbs. And knock on wood, if you don't burn the plastic, the arms will take the beating of bowfishing. Here is a picture of regular Slingshots made with the same techniques.

Comparing a compound to a slingbow is comparing two different animals. You are talking 290fps vs. 190fps, and CNC machined tolerances vs. handmade parts. I will say, however, since you were questioning their power and accuracy, that i have done a fair share of tests with my own custom built slingbow with good results. I own an old Bear Kodiak Hunter which has been a classic recurve for many decades. My bow in particular has killed bear, deer, and all sorts of small game before it was given to me. My slingbow pulling 45lbs shot 10fps faster than my recurve at 55lbs, with the same arrow. So they do have adequate power, it just needs to be in the hands of a shooter who has put their time into practicing with it to be accurate enough to kill under less than ideal conditions.

Hoythntr96 Thanks for clearing that up for some people. I don't bowfish out to 40 yards anyway, do you? Well for that matter I don't shoot hogs out to 40 yards either. Mostly 20 yrds. in
