Shooting a full length Muzzy fishing arrow with safety slide and barbs but no tip through a biscuit:
New Wave-41#-full draw-no gloves=122 fps
Used Browning Cuda---40#-no gloves=126 fps
New PSE Cuda-41#-full draw-no gloves=131 fps
Modified Wave -41#--full draw-no gloves= 135 fps

had three new bows in a row the limb stripped right out of the riser, I bet anything I had them going 200 FPS when I fired them out of the boat.:co:

Walter, can you give us draw length and arrow weights so we can compare to some work we are doing here?

Joneida, this is from his earlier post, if he doesn't chime back in any time soon:

Shooting a full length Muzzy fishing arrow with safety slide and barbs but no tip through a biscuit, draw length was not measured exact, but is 29-30

I don't have a scale to weigh the arrow unfortunately but all I did was take the point off of a full length Muzzy arrow so that the barbs wouldn't hang in the target. Slide and stop were on the arrow. Like I said I wasn't overly scientific on the test-just tightened the limb bolts down snug, checked the weight and shot each bow at full draw 3 times over the chrony. Draw length on all the bows is in the 29-30 range.

How does the onieda fps compare to the others?
I have no clue and know the question wasn't for me but if Jo can get speeds with a fishing arrow fairly close to the Cuda at the same draw weight he will have done a good job on design. imo

Most bows shoot too fas as it is. If they shoot too hard you spend all night pulling your arrows out of the bottom or trying to get the line back thru the fish after shootiner thru them. I did a bunch of testing on arrow speeds using fiberglass and carbon arrows and found for me shooting bigger fish in a lil deeper water that 120fps was a good compromis arrow speed to ensure enough penetration on the bigger fish and not stick in the bottom too deep on shallower shots.

The carp tip alone weighs about 60grs. Weight on a standard fiberglass carp tip arrow with safety slide is around 1490grs but varies a lot, some can be over 1500 some around 1450grs. So without a tip your looking at 1400-1450grs or so!
I just have a few shafts without barbs in them to tune and shoot my bows with. The barbs weigh close to 30grs themselves but makes it easy to remove from targets without the barb and not damage the threads and penetrate and not blow holes in the target.

Yep there is alot of variation in fiberglass shaft weights for sure!

Someone needs to shoot one @ 60 lbs over a chrony because I'm curious how much speed that extra 20 lbs of draw weight generates. Not wanting to start a war but just curious. Wouldn't hurt to do a 50-55 lb recurve for comparison purposes also.

Not out here....I sure wish you guys could come out and see what I am talking about!
I have confidence Joe will get it to where I dont have to shoot the weights we are
