I've been around cattle all my life too and had to herd some pretty wild ones back out of national forest on horseback a few times.I never thought I would see the day where people would actually hold up for a canned cow hunt but I've been proved wrong on that a few times in the last couple of days.

I hear ya....just for the record the cattle we hunted were several generation WILD,and were actually becoming a public safety issue.I would never pay to hunt them

Yeah I understand where your coming from.I was just being a smart ass like usual so I hope you didn't take too much offense to it.I agree that it can be a little challenging and fun.I've been on a canned cattle hunt or two cuz the bastards wouldn't cooperate.Kill em and drag them with a chain behind the pick up to the skinnin tree. You aint lived until you been on a canned guinea hunt.Dad turned out a whole flock of them and told me I had to shoot every one of them through the head with a 22 or not to shoot at all.Living right in the middle of a big patch of timber sure didn't help matters none.It took me 3 days to get all of them wild suckers shot.

If we talk nice to Sheriff Brady or one of them they might clean it back up for him.We raised a few of those to along with a whole slug of wild turkeys.Peac.ocks look exactly like them when they are little.I know a couple people that have robbed wild turkey nests and switched their eggs for peac.ock eggs. They claim they raised them and they ran just as wild as the turkeys. We use to fight chickens too and knew a guy that would cross those with pheasants.I guess those are supposed to be pretty quick and mean is why they did it but not positive.

I've got a great "Fish Ripper" that I just welded up out of scrap to perfectly fit a round barrel. Removes easily with two 1/4" wing nuts that are on the outside of the barrel. Mounting it does not distort the diameter of the barrel's top ring at all. It's sturdy enough to pick the barrel up and sling it around with. I do not have the pictures on my computer, just my phone. If somebody wants to post them in this thread so others could use the design, that is fine with me. PM me if you want me to text you a few pictures, and I can give you my cell #.
I never even knew it was called a fish ripper, and I've had mine done for while now...

Beanpole is going to try and post a few pics of my set-up. Thanks, Bud!

Well I haven't had a drink for a number of days so what's my excuse?
You boys would do at least two of us a favor by going into a more detailed explanation of what exactly, or how exactly you are using this and what tips you are using. Azurite, I've ripped arrows out with the barbs not turned and broke them...can't believe that would be the process. And have another drink for me would ya, I'm on the wagon for now.

I believe (if I understand it correctly) you still have to unscrew the tips but this way you dont have to shake the arrow around the get the fish off. You just stick the fish under the fish ripper with the arrow between the "fingers" and pull. I can see this being a big help when your arrow passes through past the safety slide.

I don't know if any of you have farm experience but my fish barrel is a plastic 30 gallon Round-Up barrel with the lid cut off. Couldn't I just cut a big U in the top of my barrel big enough to pull the arrow through? The sides are pretty sturdy and thick (like I like my women).
