its a nasty MONSTER for sure! id say the first pic on the pallet did no justice to what the second pic showed.....id say AT LEAST 8 ft......im jealous
In the first pic it looks like the fish is kinda scrunched up and bent around a little. I measured the second picture and calculated for scale and that would put the fish at about 9ft even, since it looks like the guy is standing about a half step behind the fish I'd say 8'7" sounds like it'd be right on the money.

Good deal! Now everyone will go to Mississippi for gador Gar!

Bahahah! If they do they wont be back for a second trip! There is no doubt we got em here, but they are FEW and FAR between. Gador Gar hunters who come here expecting to see something like that will go home disappointed.

However, some of the information in the story about this fish is false. The fish was taken from DUMP LAKE in Yazoo County, not Chotard.

So I can use gill nets in Mississippi
?

They have size restrictions, but yea commercial fisherman run the hell outa some nets here. Thats why we have a hard time finding buffalo over 50 pounds! LOL

We once had a GG population like yall, but those nets and no limit really put a hurting on them. Now that the state has a 2 per man per day limit, its really helped out. In the past two years we have started to see alot of small ones (40 lbs or less) so I figured their parents are aound somewhere, and now obviously they are. LOL

Actually both are great names but Dump has me curious lol.
well when you look at old Topo maps, the name of the lake is d i c k lake. I guess fisherman decided that name was not too cool, so they named it a more appropriate name. If you were to ever see it, you would know exactly why. Maybe one day I will slip by the boat ramp and take some pictures.... LOL
