I have 8 500 W halos and I dont intend on running both banks at the same time but if I did that still puts me at 4000 W I found a decent deal on a new Chicago brand 5500/6500 max genny for $400 from harbor freight with my 20% off one item coupon . Anyone use these gennys? I read the reviews and they all seemed to be good and they offer a 2 yr complete replacement warranty for really cheap . I just got the deck done , lights bought , new tags for the boat , used troller and new batteries cant afford to buy a honda our yammer genny right now so a cheaper one is my only choice . Do these have a honda clone motor on them ? and how reliable are they ? the reviews I read seemed great other than a few of them that from the sounds had them over loaded

by the way Im not a tourney fisher and only get to go 1-2 times a week this is just fun for us carp shooters
Here she is I should be able to get the genny under the deck if it doesnt throw my weight too mcuh to the front and this should help cut some noise down , Its a 16 fter with a 28 hp on the back 8 ft long deck and 6 ft wide the deck framing with wood top weighs about 110# total

Run 300 watt bulbs instead of your 500's and get a smaller genney

I ask why the smaller bulbs? Im new to this so I have lots of questions . The price on the jenny Im OK with I can use it for my house for the winter storms if needed so it will have a multi purpose . I prob wont be running more than 5 lights at any given time 2 on the front and 3 down one side or the other .

you cant tell much difference in brightness in the 500's and 300's. The 300's will save yourself some amps, so you dont have to use a bigger genny

i ran 500s and 300s and couldnt tell much difference, as far as the genny i dont know but i have a fan motor and genny from the same place and have no complaints, and you cant beat there replacement warranty, they exchange it right there on the spot no questions asked

Agree, switch out to the 300 watt bulbs...hardly a difference. Keep the bigger genny (you will never regret extra power) and i would run all the lights at the same time, you will have no problem. Can't comment on the quality of that specific generator though.

Run the 300's as stated above! Good Luck and let us know how it goes!!

thanks guys I appreciate the help , 300s it will be and I will carry a few of these 500s as on the boat spares since each light came with 2 bulbs , Im going with the bigger genny 5500/6500 so it can double duty at home if needed . Keep ya updated but we will hopefully be on the water by memorial weekend for some carpin action
