This may be stupid..

I got a solid, I mean solid 1542 semi V bottom boat. Is it to skinny for a fan? I would keep the fan as low as possible, weight is not an issue. I think combined me and my brother weigh 300lbs + 70lb Lab puppy every once and awhile. I am just tired of hitting the bottom with my trolling motor. Its an Alumacraft 1542 and it will draft shallooow. Any ideas, suggestions, Thanks!

anythings possible, dont think it would be an issue. maybe you should just buy another boat i think a 1754 would be perfect, and actually, i just so happen to have one for sale hahaha. seriously, i think the only problem would be going with to big of a fan motor when you try turning the boat because its narrow. just my .02

personally i wouldnt put a fan on any less than a 60" bottom. but having that said i have a fan motor for sale

Okay last question: If I keep the fan as low as possible. Right over the top of the lil outboard. Since it is narrow are you guys worried about tipping or swamping it? Poor performance? What is the main problem?

You could consider, removing outboard and building a mini-airboat with rudders.

Yeah, my brother and I are pretty good with balance. We shot outta a 1232 for 2 years. If I really keep this fan like 18" from the gunnels you think tipping is really that possible? The boat has a wide beam if that helps.

I like where your heads at Muzzy!

I got a friend building a mini-airboat on a 1442 jon. He is gonna use a harbor frieght 420 cc engine with a 38" arrowprop.
