Most of you know my Dad and I started a major excavation around the first of June 2012. We have dug around 100 days since then and found about 15,000 arrowheads plus thousands more brokes, scrapers, etc. Anyway, July 1st, I found the base half of a killer Midland. It was crazy thin and perfect work. I knew it was huge for the type too. Just the kind of point dreams are made of except it was broke right in half.
Fast forward to Friday....Im digging along and Dad is at the sifter. He holds up a point and starts toward the skid steer with it. Its a super thin point of a blade. He was already thinking the same thing I was. Could it be??? The color looked off as this seemed darker than the base. When we headed in for lunch, I went straight to my Paleo frame and got the base out. They went together perfectly!
They were dramatically different colors until they were both dried out and then the color matched too! One drop of glue and a 12,500 year old break was repaired!
edit...cant get pictures to load.
